Sadly the seniors final home dual is this weekend. Each day I will be starting an appreciation thread by the weight they wrestle. Please only positive comments on this thread. If you don't like him than post on one of the other threads. If you don't follow this rule, I will have Kakert take away all of your likes. I will also hire a PI to hunt your ass down.

When there are 15,000 fans in Carver, 14,990 love Thomas Gilman. Last year, almost 50,000 fans in Kinnick loved Thomas Gilman. He is the team leader. Watch his teammates reaction after his win on Sunday. This tells everyone all they need to know about how the program feels about Gman. He is the most focused wrestler we have had since Matt McDonough. He is the epitomy of tough every time he steps on the mat. He is also a complete gentleman and class act when he isn't competing.

I have said it before, and Stanley recently stated the same. We would be the run away national champs if we had 10 guys scoring the points Gman scores. I would like to sincerely thank Gman for the memories over the last 4 years. Keep doing what your doing and get that asterisk by your name!

Amen. Brother. Thomas is an intense competitor and absolutely the leader of the team. Very, very focused. Driven. Disciplined. Off the mat, he is an extremely polite and respectful young man from what I have witnessed. Can't wait to watch him this weekend and again in St. Louis.

Have to agree with everything you both posted.
Will miss TG loved his way of wrestling not a pinner really but take em down release and take em down again...Hope he can out with a big ten title and national title..Can tell all of you he is the type of guy that I would love to have with me in the fox hole when the going got tough.

Thanks for the thread and many thanks to Gman! Although we are all "wired" different and we may not all like some of the antics, I for one don't mind them as I enjoy a very "focused" and military based mindset that he puts forth. He "flips the switch" when he's on the mat and flips it off when the wrestling is over and is a class act. I like the fact he seems completely obsessed with winning and being a leader.
I'm old fashioned but there's no doubt I'd take 10 of that guy and his "attitude" every damn year! Go get you one Gman!!

He is a good example of someone who has continued to improve on his various attacks and intensity. In some ways I wish he and Clark would have switched weights this year as Gilman is a much better matchup for tomasello.

I would love to have ten of him on the team. The only problem may be that they would beat the crap out of each other. Can you imagine 10 of him being recruited and living together?
Gable, we're gonna have to recruit these guys or we're gonna have to find some way to kill 'em. Because there's blood down there.'"

This is Gman's thread. We will discuss why Cory Clark is the best 133 guy in the nation tomorrow ;)

Some of my all-time favorite Gilman moments.

1. Announcing himself as a legitimate top dog and future top dog at the weight by beating Delgado at Midlands his RS FR year.

2. Coming back after the crushing defeat to Moisey in the semi's and then planting Garrett in the consi semis.

3. Planting Tomasello in the semi's last year

4. His comeback against Dance in the quarters of 2015 NCAAs.

5. His comeback against Lizak. Won't forget that.

I'm gonna miss him, but thankfully us Iowa fans are going to continue to be spoiled at 125. McDonough-Clark-Gilman-Lee.
Thank you Thomas Gilman for wrestling hard win or lose every time you step out on the mat.

I have a feeling Gilmans positive leadership and domination by example will have a long lasting effect on the young guys in the lineup or redshirting, like Kemerer, Marinelli, Young, and Happel. I'm glad they got to see it done first hand, and can work on replicating in their own ways with their styles. Everyone on the team and within the program really admires Gilman, and it's easy to see why- with the way he takes care of business on the mat, and no doubt off the mat.

Thanks for the memories young Mr. Gilman. This kid hates to lose, which is what makes him so good. One thing I love about Thomas Gilman, he got beat out for the Varsity spot by Cory Clark his first year, and he didn't piss and moan about it, he didn't transfer, he just worked on getting better until he got another shot. Since then, he's been nothing but money, with some big moments and some heartache along the way.

Yep, he's got an "attitude" while competing, which is fine by me. Kid's been a great Hawkeye. Thanks for coming to Iowa Thomas Gilman.

The most impressive thing to me about Gilman is how easily he handled Garrett from Cornell. Before the match, I would have picked Garrett for an easy win. After that match you could have told me Gilman could walk on water and I would have believed it.

I was brought up to just wrestle and let your actions speak . As I followed TG's career as a hawk I believe this is what he did so it took me a bit to understand some of the extracurricular activities of late , to me it's seems to be two fold one part is strategic the other is he just wants his opponents to come out and compete and not stall and back out the whole match. Whichever the case may be he is a great competitor and I really love watching him get after it.. Bring home the Brackets Thomas !!
