Thomas Gilman refocuses to finish third. (Interview)

Everyone should listen to this - he is selfless and upset he let down his team and university. He says Brands and the Iowa program made him a better person. He represents what it means to always be a Hawk. Fine young man.

He mentions there is no guarantee that he stays here once freestyle starts, and that he will ask coach Brands for his blessing. I guess I don't know how all that works to be on the HWC etc.?

I've loved many of Thomas' interviews - this is the best one yet. Hate that the college career ended this way, but he will continue to do great things (both as a wrestler and a man). He couldn't have put it any better than when he said that he is becoming a better man. I would go to battle with this guy any day. What a loyal warrior...

I love me some Gman. Great interview.

If he has a decent par terre defense and Dennis can make him an offensive force with rib crushing technique, I could see him being a real force in freestyle. Will be great to have him rolling around with Lee, Murin, Teasdale and others (and hopefully a healthy Clark).

Is Gilman the best 125 lbs college wrestler, absolutely! Just not yesterday. There are no guarantees and sometimes the best wrestler does lose, Gable. The thing about Clark and Gilman this year is neither of them have lost, they simply ran out of time. Neither got pinned or owned and no doubt if the match kept going they were going to win it.

Meyer may have won every match too. The matches may have needed to be hours long, but eventually he would have warmed up to the point when he was simply unstoppable.
