Throwback Thursday - Emissions Scandal Revealed…

capitalism at its finest...amirite? I know some on here would say that.

Over a million kids have asthma from exposure to car exhaust. Over 10k/year die prematurely in US from exposure to it. $10s+ of billions spent each year on medical costs from treating people whose health has been seriously impacted by it.

But electrics only go 280 miles and take 40 minutes to recharge so who cares. /s

They are different brands and business units?

Do you believe people would automatically assume Audi was involved by only naming VW if not mentioned specifically?
But the same automaker. I would certainly assume Audi models were involved since so much of their platforms are shared. When this story years ago, only Volkswagen was named, but Audi models were included with the cover up…as well as Porsche.

When they say Volkswagen conspired to cheat diesel exhaust emissions, do you assume that it includes all diesel models Volkswagen manufactures?

Highly skeptical that a study can credibly come up with these numbers.

Rising Cost Of European Energy Makes EV Battery Plants "Unfeasible", VW Exec Says

Volkswagen brand CEO Thomas Schaefer said this week that investments in German and EU projects will no longer make financial sense if "policy makers fail to control ballooning energy prices in the long-term", according to the Times.

In a post on LinkedIn, Schaefer said: “Unless we manage to reduce energy prices in Germany and Europe quickly and reliably, investments in energy-intensive production or new battery cell factories in Germany and the EU will be practically unviable. The value creation in this area will take place elsewhere.”

The report says that EU officials are focused on responding to President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, which they say "violates World Trade Organisation rules and discriminates against non-US companies."

Meanwhile, Volkswagen is in the process of putting 6 battery factories in operation across Europe by the year 2030, the report says. The company's lead plant in Germany broke ground this July and already has a €3bn joint venture with Umicore in place for cathode material production

Where's the article on someone dying from auto emissions?
Haven't you heard, the seas are rising, the clouds are burning, fire is flowing from faucets, dogs are sleeping with cats, it's armageddon. Climate is the new religion.
