Tie Game. Last shot. You give the ball to... Uthoff or Jok?

I run a two man game with them. Or Uthoff in the post with Clemmons on the wing and Jok in the corner.

1 - Uthoff for a fadeaway off the block going to his right
1 - Jok around the curl for a jumper in the flow of his natual motion

This is really, really a hard call

I have two plays in my pocket. One for each of them. Whichever has the hot hand leading up to it gets the shot.

Depends on the other team's personnel and who has the hot hand. Hard to take the ball out of the hands of Clemmons or Gesell, but a set play to get Jok or Uthoff the ball would be wise.

Pass to Uthoff, fake, then dribble right. If he's open, nail it. If not, hit Jok coming off a screen. If he's open nail it. While Uthoff is about to shoot or pass, have Clemmons come off a low screen, followed by another high screen by the post player that just set a screen for Jok. Pass from Jok for 3.

Either one. Just get them the ball and let them do their thing.....

PJ can't be completely trusted to finish a drive, but he can if he needs to - either taking it all the way or pulling up for a J.

JU will create no matter what, its just a matter of the shot going in or not.

No matter what, what a uniquely wonderful problem to have.

Typically: Uthoff- he has shown the ability to hit big shots down the stretch (last year's game against Northwestern, which I believe we eventually lost, but he forced OT with an amazing shot, and play down the stretch)

Recently: Jok- JU has just been a little off since the Maryland game, and Jok has been going off

If neither of those two got the final shot, I'd like to see it in Clemmons' hands. He's got a knack for hitting big shots, and is more versatile in terms of scoring than Gesell. He can hit a floater in the lane, as well as the jumper.

I would have Clemmons handling the ball and run a pick and roll with Utoff. While that is going on, I would be running Jok off of screens for a jump shot. I think there you have your three best scorers involved. Neither Jok nor Utoff are that great in straight one and one play. They aren't bad, just not great and Clemmons has been playing really well offensively.

I have them running off screens and then have UHL set a pick at the top of the key and roll back and hit the 3ball. UHL has not missed from straight on I don't think (sure had some nasty banks shots), but the kid is money from dead on.

Give it to Clemmons and let him drive and score or dish to Uthoff or Pete outside. Is it me or have teams figured out that playing both Uthoff and Jok tight, no open jump shots, and we struggle to get hoops? It seems to me that we are not getting the open 3's we were getting and, last nite not withstanding, we are struggling a little bit in the scoring department.

That is exactly what I was thinking.

I immediately thought of Uhl as well. Three options at the end of a close game is a great situation to have.

Jok over Uthoff is an easy decision. Jok shoots the jumper with same form nearly every single time and has that muscle memory for a good shot. JU takes too many fadeaways which is a series of moving parts for the shot to be consistent. JU is so much better shooter when he just goes up and shoots the ball. In fact, I would take Clemmons before JU for just a jump shot. JU probably has the advantage though if you need to make a move to get a shot since he is so long, it is very difficult to stop him from getting a shot off though

If Jok is hot, I want him shooting it and I don't care if he is guarded or not, or how far he is from the basket. Otherwise Uthoff.

Anything other than Gessell standing at the top of the key dribbling the clock down to 5 seconds.....

While I understand the general interest in running the clock down so that the other team doesn't get the ball back, I think given what this team does well and what it doesn't do well, it might be a better strategy to run the clock down more to 10-12 seconds, then start running the offense. It gives the team a chance to make the D move around and swing the ball and if they get a good look and score with time left on the clock, they can go back and play D, which they do very, very well.
