Tim Miles is done at UN. Good fit for Drake though

If they fire him they are stupid. Nebraska is a volleyball school not a basketball school. They will be dead last in the big ten if they fire him behind Rutgers, and I'm not a miles fan.

Yeah I don't see them making a move at this point. They lose Webster, but that's about it. Some nice pieces in Watson, Morrow, Tshimanga and I believe they have a highly rated transfer sitting out and a decent incoming class. Would seem a weird time to make a move, given their history.

I think he'll get one more. But man...its frustrating to watch. I mean... I know Nebraska has never been a basketball school, but 1 winning season out of 5? Frustrating. Lots of pieces coming back though, so we'll see how it goes.

He should get more than that they aren't going to find a better coach and has pulled in some top 100 recruits something Nebraska only gets once every 10 years.
I should clarify ... Meaning, I think they may pull the plug if he isn't successful next year. Personally, I think he is a good fit for Nebraska ... Seems like a genuine guy ... Gets good recruits ... Not sure who else Huskers could get.

Exactly they aren't going to ever get a top notch coach they have never won a game in the NCAA tournament and are probably the 2nd worst power 5 school in basketball behind Northwestern.

If Collins sticks around then they might be the worst power 5 school in basketball. Nobody wants to coach Nebraska that's a good coach, and Miles actually wants to be there and has had some better recruiting classes at Nebraska than Iowa. He should atleast be given two more years.

If he is fired he will find a job somewhere else and succeed so it may be best that he does get fired.

But they won't find anyone better than him I promise you that.

Jacobson to NE

Miles to UNI

Lol they do a NBA like trade with coaches that would be funny but I think Jacobson could find a better job than Nebraska he has had quite a bit success in the tourney for a mid major.

I could see Jacobson coaching Iowa State once they fire prohm in a 2-3 years once they start not making the tourney.

Jacobson is a very good coach if he leaves UNI it won't be for Nebraska, that would be a downgrade from UNI.

Like I said before I believe Nebraska is 0-7 in the Tourney. Jacobson has been to a sweet 16, and should have been last year too. But we all remember the epic meltdown of all meltdowns I've ever seen in my life.

Nebraska thinks they are a football school. Probably half the fans and administration couldn't tell you what their basketball team's record is.

If Miles gets fired Drake would be getting a guy who can recruit and get Drake playing good basketball again.

I'm sure every Drake fan would love to have Miles and from what i hear players love playing for him plus he's a younger coach with experience, can't beat that.

I actually hope all three of these coaches stay forever
Yep, a part of me, the part thinking that this season was over at the time, wanted IU to beat us in Carver so Crean could turn the burner down a bit on his seat. I can't think of two coaches, Crean and Groce, who do less with more.

B1G is tough to keep finishing above .500, especially if you go to a school without a good in-state recruiting pool and a history of success. Miles will probably get next year, but he will need to deliver a post-season appearance.

I dunno. sometimes it's just a matter of being a bad fit. Look what happened with Lickliter after he left Iowa. Oh wait...

Last night was brutal. I actually turned it off at half and went to bed. Being a Nebraska hoops fan is the worst man.

I could see Ben going to the Illini or NC State.

Miles will get another year or two then he will be toast if he doesn't have a winning year in 18. He has a lot of talent and coming in, just doesn't know how to coach it and spends too much time worrying about the officials calls.

That's what happens when you aren't a bball school - no benefit of the doubt with the calls. Same as PSU in hoops. Talk about two underachieving universities with rich football traditions. Not sure how Kansas isn't better in football too. Oh yeah, they fired their coach for being too fat but used the "he was mean to players" line. Toughen up Sally's, it's college football, not tiddly winks.

Two weeks ago I was inclined to think Miles would get at least 1 more year. The way they have ended the season, with the team basically quitting, is not good. Finishing the year losing by 16, 16, 15 and 36 is not a way to convince an administration you need another year. If you are the Nebraska AD, what evidence do you see that the current roster is bought in to what the coach is saying? I would put it at 50/50 that he is back. The cupboard isn't bare, so if they wanted to make a move there would be the possibility of being competitive in 2017-18. Watson, Morrow, Tshimanga are a good place to start. Isaac Copeland (the Georgetown transfer) and Anton Gill (Louisville transfer) will play next year. I suppose Miles can point to those guys coming in as the reason he needs another year, but I would be concerned that the current roster has just decided to stop playing this year.

I think Miles gets one more year but they have to be embarrassed about the way they ended the year.

Nebraska has not had a regular season conference title since 1950 and has never won an NCAA tournament game.....ever. They have a coach that has been successful elsewhere and led them to their first NCAA tourney appearance in over 10 years in 2014.

I honestly think it is not a coaching issue there in Lincoln.

Calling it.

The Nebraska AD has to be trying to determine whether (1) he can find a better coach, (2) the new coach can keep the roster and recruiting class intact, and (3) whether he wants to pay whatever buyout exists.

The talent is there to compete, but the team simply stopped competing. The AD can't really believe that Miles can turn it around.
