Titanic tourist sub goes missing

Dog gummies? What is the active ingredient?

Sorry. Not gummies. They are Hemp Dog Treats. She said she got them at Blaine's Farm & Fleet. I see that Chewy has them though,

I heard they have 4 days of oxygen but to me it seems like the most likely cause was a hull breach. They are probably already dead.
There are a bunch of things it could be. No matter the cause, the odds are bad. They have to wait for another submersible. Then they’ll have to find the damn thing. Finally, they’ll have to figure out a way to bring it to the surface.

If the ship has a good deep passive sonar, they’ll know whether they’re alive. A hull breach would at least be a good death.

That would be a very terrifying last few minutes/seconds of your life depending on the severity of the breach.

Does he freak out with fireworks and storms, and if so, do the gummies/chews make that stop?
We'll find out how well they work for fireworks in the coming weeks. But for storms there's a noticeable difference. He also gets super over-protective of any new people coming over to the house. So if we know someone is going to be coming over, we'll give him one about an hour before they get here, and it helps him be a bit more chill about it. They're a solid purchase, at least for our lil dog.

I dont go in them alone, but yeah I have been in those a few times in my life. If you dont like small spaces....

Also, the ride up in the St Louis Arch. Its tight. Would not want to be stuck in one of those.
Ha, I hadn't thought about the Arch in years, but I recently drove through St. Louis and when I saw it...I wondered to my self if I could get in one of those pods for the trip to the top ever again.

I have been in them a few times, with no real issues other than one of those times being quite hot. Nowadays...I think I would be 50/50 at best in terms of getting in that thing. Old age is getting to me on these types of things, that's for sure.

I don't even want to know what the inside of that sub smells like. I imagine theres some piss and shit in there if it wasn't breached. I'd pray for death.

If you do the math, the depth of the Titanic’s final resting place is the equivalent of 10 Empire State Buildings stacked on top of each other. No fvcking thank you.

Oh, and that’s one helluva of a way to take out a hit on someone, or for someone to fake their own death and start a new life, or for someone to kidnap you to get at your billions. (Just beating the conspiracy theorists to the punch 😁)

Apparently, a billionaire was on the sub. Hope he is not joining the Astors at the bottom of the ocean.

Billionaire guy looks like an “unfortunate billionaire guy” in a movie who dies in an incident of his own design.

Things I have zero interest in:
  • paying to be in a submarine on purpose
  • being on a small boat in the middle of the ocean
  • space travel as we know it
  • sky diving
  • cave diving
  • spelunking
  • riding a motorcycle, especially without a helmet
Being in a small boat on the ocean is fine with me, and I would love to take a trip to space. (A real one, not the Bezos--Branson sub-orbital flights).

Otherwise your list looks great! Would probably add climbing Mt Everest.

Oh, and if someone wants to point out that myself, and others are being harsh and cavalier, they chose to go there for a bit of adventure. The US Navy, civilian contractors, legitimate researchers all have reasons to do some manned missions to this depth.
No effing way I'm going on a sub ride to 10,000+ feet below the surface of the ocean.

They have to be gone, right?

You don’t just lose contact with it.
Sadly, I would think so. I also don’t understand why they are searching a vast area. Don’t they park the mothership directly over the titanic and then drop the submarine? If there was a failure wouldn’t the sub just fall to the bottom right next to the titanic?

I assume you have to factor all the currents in play when you’re dropping 2.3 miles down. I bet the ship is a mile or two away from the Titanic.

As far as I figure most likely.

If just their communication went down they would simply surface.

If something prevented them from surfacing they would inform the surface ship.

For them to be alive they either had to have surfaced so far away from the ship that they could not be spotted or something caused their communication and ability to surface to go down but did not kill life support systems.

Those last scenarios seem unlikely to me.

True, but it sounds like they are scouring the surface for a huge area. I just don’t see what they would do about it either. Our coastguard and navy subs don’t go that deep. How would they get a rescue sub there before the oxygen runs out?

The whole search effort is a fugazi. They know there's isn't much they can do, especially in a day and a half now, in terms of a rescue that deep and it's more likely they are already dead. Just locating it for answers at this point.

Article said they already had a small weather window just to do the tour, so my guess is if they don't find them in 2 days, they probably won't at all.

I assume they have to at least make an effort.
