Titanic tourist sub goes missing

I have to assume that thing and people were crushed in a nano second didn’t know what hit them when the breach occurred.

ok, but at that depth and pressure, even if a pinhole leak, wouldn't all the air shoot out instead of water coming in?

They’re idiots for getting in this death machine
The British billionaire who was in the sub also traveled to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, went into space on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket, and traveled to the South Pole with Buzz Aldrin.

We all have to check out sometime. This dude lived and experienced more in 58 years than most people will if they live to 90.

I guess if the owner/inventor was going along I would feel a little more confident but I still wouldn’t go.

Life is plenty short the way it is.

F-ck Around & Find Out

Probably would not have made a difference in this case, but I remember reading some of these subs have weight attacked on their bellies, which can be detached in an emergency so the sub can surface.

Wouldn't it be something if the capsule got lodged in the long staircase Jack greeted Rose in?
The staircase became completely dislodged during the sinking, so that hole in the middle is what they use to go between decks.

There were supposed to be seven different safety measures layered on each other to bring the sub to the surface if something went wrong. Kinda points to a catastrophic failure.

If there was a leak that is what would happen, from an Australian professor and sub expert,

"The pressure down there at 4,000 meters is pretty high. About 5,800 PSI at Titanic depth. If they had any kind of leak, it would lead to an implosion and it would happen in an instant, very immediately. You wouldn't even know it happened.”

It’s a better death than a fire with toxic fumes or losing power and slowly running out of oxygen in the dark.

I saw this morning someone comparing the size to a minivan. Awesome. 5 people waiting to die inside of a minivan.

o_O

If there was a breach, it would be more like a water jet that would cut you in half if you got in the way. Then the rest sit while the sub fills up...and not a thing they can do about it. A window goes and everybody is dead in seconds. Small breach...longer wait.
From what I've read, even a hairline breach at that depth would be instant cosmic dust.

I can’t see a good ending here .
Richard Pryor talks about walking home drunk one night in SF with his buddy. They are crossing tge Golden Gate Bridge and decide to take a piss. They pulk’em out and flip them over tge side, Pryor’s buddy sez, “Damn Richard, the water is cold!” Richard answered, “It’s deep, too.”
Perfect description of the North Atlantic were the Titanuc lays.
$250k for a burial at sea.

Well I guess I am glad they likely did not suffer.

It sounds like a situation where they lost both communication and the ability to surface but remained alivd is unlikely.

My Co-Worker says the dog gummies worked wonders.

Can you give me some details on these dog gummies? Product name and where to procure them? I’m at my wits end this time of year with my poor dog stressed out for weeks on end. TIA, very much appreciated!

EDIT: Never mind I see the details further down the thread

I actually had an incident like this search with the OP's mom. Dropped her favorite vibrator down her "love tunnel". She informed me that if it wasn't found before the batteries died it would be forever lost.
so... was there a happy ending?

I read an interesting article about what happens to your body as it descends into the depths. Short version is you’re not crumpled into a tiny mess, because your body consists of a lot of water. However, your lungs are compressed, ribs break and anything with air collapses (like ear drums, sinuses, etc). But the body stays basically intact.
You found that interesting?
We got us a psycho here, folks.

Rear Adm. John Mauger of the U.S. Coast Guard said Tuesday morning that an area “about the size of Connecticut” had been searched so far. In an interview with “Good Morning America,” he said search capabilities were also being expanded to be able to look under the water.

Call me crazy, but I would have looked under the water from the very beginning. 🤷‍♂️
There is a small chance the craft lost communications, but was able to shed it's ballast and slowly ascend to the surface.
