I'd be stunned if Hoiberg took that job. The NBA'll kill him by Xmas.
Whenever he gets fired from the Bulls, he will slide right back in at ISU.Hoiberg has job security at Ames for the rest of his life.
He has no guarantees with the Bulls and the team is
not a cinch for next season. Jimmy Butler is a free agent.
I'd be stunned if Hoiberg turns down that job.The NBA has been his goal for awhile now.
FIFY
Heck...it wouldn't surprise me if he "retires" a year or two at ISU - let alone going to the NBA.
Bad ticker trumps all.

Butler is a restricted free agent. If the Bulls want him they can keep him.Hoiberg has job security at Ames for the rest of his life.

Agree. It's not like an NBA coach, former college coach (with success), is not going to have plenty of head coaching job offers if he ends up getting fired from the Bulls. Chances are he'll be pretty set for life with just one contract from the Bulls. NBA head coaches make pretty good money.Whenever he gets fired from the Bulls, he will slide right back in at ISU.
This is probably a safe assumption, but with GarPax, maybe this is a false assumption. The Bulls would not have fired Tom T, if they did not
already have someone else lined up.
Evidently, the Des Moines Register thinks that Hoiberg
has serious heart issues and will not take a new job.
If this is true then he won't be coaching at ISU either. Recruiting is a full time gig 365 days a year.Evidently, the Des Moines Register thinks that Hoiberg
has serious heart issues and will not take a new job.

Then he definitely is gone,Evidently, the Des Moines Register thinks that Hoiberg

82 games vs. 30 not counting the playoffs/ncaa tourney. 41 of those 82 being on the road. NBA coaches routinely work 12-14 hr days on off days. I'm not convinced Fred takes the plunge this year. His operation was no joke. The dude was on ice for quite a while and the mental aspect of dealing with how you feel post op and for a good 6-12 months after a surgery like this is tough. I have a close friend and a family member who have both been thru it and they weren't back to full speed for a good 6+ months physically and even longer mentally.I don't get this thought. How is coaching in the NBA versus a major 5 college program that much worse for the heart? Yeah there is more travel; but then again no recruiting. Better health care in chicago; but no driving on the loop in Ames. Why is the NBA so much worse?
