Toks Akinibrade

Well Indiana has something going for it over us and that's immediate PT with Howard leaving. We have multiple backs, Graham coming and more guys coming in. Hope he thinks wisely though as do you really want to play at Indiana? Are you afraid to work and compete? The cream typically rises to the top.

not going to worry about him one way or the other. We are ok next year. Can find somebody that will fit our needs the following year.

If I were Toks, I'd ask others not connected to program if HC Kevin Wilson is on a hot seat. Next year could be another down year and Wilson is only 8 wins and 32 losses in conference (20-41 with one bowl loss/ apppearance) in 5 years. Indiana and Purdue ( Darrell Hazell) could be looking for new HC next year. Indiana produces more D-1 football talent than Iowa but they either go to ND or other top programs.

Playing time may be available but a new coach will bring in his style and guys. Adapt or leave. Besides, Kevin Wilson uses the spread offense. Passing attack over running the ball.

Iowa needs RBs that can run and pass catch and block. Weisman had only 4 career pass catches and LeShun has only 1 career reception. LeShun needs to move to fullback and operate with Wadley or Mitchell at tailback. LeShun will not be the pros at tailback. Use the force.

Barrington Wade's future is at linebacker. Many articles with quotes of his high school coach stating that Barrington see his college career at LB.

Thought he'd look good at linebacker as well. Indiana can't fill their own stadium, lack fan support and their coach can't win the big game. Hopefully he sticks!

I presume recruited for LB, as his primary recruiter is/was now former LB coach, Jim Reid. Maybe the tea leaves are saying Indy, especially with Reid moving on?

Coaches recruit regions, not specific positions, for the most part. Indiana is part of what was Reid's region/territory.

This kid is not going to flip because the freaking LB coach is leaving.

He might leave because Indiana is about to put their second consecutive RB into the NFL a year early, and KF has struggled to put any skill players into the NFL during his entire career here.

I cannot speculate with any certainty, as no one else can either, what the reason would be if he decommits from IA, but to categorically declare he wouldn't leave because the freaking LB coach is leaving has no credibility.

"............Or, more accurately, it's not you, it's your staff.

I had a great relationship with Coach Monken," Del Rio said. "When he left, it was a big part of why I decided to de-commit, but it wasn't everything. With him leaving, I knew I had to see my other options......"

In a survey of top-level players that attended this summer's Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge, 79 percent of the participating group said their potential position coach was more important than the head coach when it comes to evaluating a school".

Very good news. Meanwhile according to Scott Dochtermann, both Nebby's Junior DT's have declared for the draft, while King is returning to Iowa.

Seems like a lot of good things going our way lately.

That is pretty big loss, no pun intended, for Nebraska's defense.

Toks cancelled his visit to Indiana per Blair on Twitter. Great news.

Kevin Wilson is really on a hot seat and Indiana will probably be looking for a new football HC after the 2016 season. Wilson just barely got into a low level bowl game and he has not typically gotten one top 5 recruit from his own state (Indy) over his tenure. Gotta protect your own borders. Notre Dame gets who they want.

Hope Toks can get his HS QB to rethink his 2017 Clemson commitment. Clemson is well stocked at QB and Iowa would be happy to ink a QB of Hunter Johnson's resume.

Toks could be a game changer with his speed and size. He is the kind of athlete Iowa needs at the skill positions to compete at a higher level.

Not really, at least at DT. Vince Valentine was seen as ready to move on as Nebraska football was not in his plans. I believe that Vince was a high school teammate of Rodney Coe and Iowa did offer VV. Nebraska is moving Greg McMullen to DT to team up with Maliek Collins. Nebraska will be young at DE and not as strong. Nebraska's vaunted defense is slipping in quality. "A program on the rise"... what a joke!;)

I'm betting this was the Iowa staff telling him that if he's 'shopping around' they're going to put him in the rear view mirror.
No, I'm sure it was more a case of conveying why Iowa is a better choice. I watched him play on TV against a very good team. He can run between the tackles with power and has excellent sped. This kid was offered by Harbaugh, has a lot of talent. Glad he's going to be a Hawk.

I'm pretty sure Collins is gone as well.

Why any Iowa fan would blithely dismiss the importance of Akinbrade's commitment is beyond me. He's obviously an important piece of the future puzzle or he wouldn't have been offered the scholarship. Sincerely hopes he sticks with the good guys ... looks like a potential stud!
Well, not to be a jerk, but I watched him play (online) a couple times and saw his highlight video. If he stays committed...ok, fine. If he goes to Indiana? I'm great with that. I just don't see it with him. Very average IMO

Agree, they probably gave him the rundown of why they believe Iowa is the better choice but I'm betting they also made sure he knew that an Indiana, or anywhere, visit means his offer is in jeopardy. That was an operational decision that Ferentz made a few years back, if I remember correctly.

Disagree. He looks like a good fit for Iowa's scheme. He has legit 4.4 speed.

I'll take Eno Benjamin in 2017 as a true freshman over any new rb in the 16 class. Check out his tape.

Lemme get this straight. We shouldn't take any RBs in 2016 because we MIGHT get Eno in 2017? Ok I put words in your mouth. But your post was still ridiculous in its logic structure either way.

I didn't see that kind of speed or quickness in the video I saw and the game I watched.

Looked like a Straight ahead runner, no shake (like Wadley has). Average speed for a D1 back. Hope I'm wrong but I didn't see it.

This has probably been mentioned before somewhere, but that has to be one of the coolest names I've seen in a while. Would like to see him as a Hawk just to hear his name over the PA at Kinnick. For that matter, "Eno Benjamin" is pretty cool, too. . . .

Highlights are so misleading, it is like 5% of there actual game play. Some kids can really shine for 25-50 plays a year, but the other 95% is really troubling. Unless you see their entire body of work (especially if you can watch it live) it is really tough to get an accurate gauge on a players talent.

I thought he was the best RB prospect I've seen Iowa on

After reading your post I looked at both videos. I'm no judge of talent but I'd say you're dead on about Eno. I'd see this before but had forgotten about his lateral movement and vision. He will be special at Iowa.
