Tony Perkins

He's been really good since @OSU last season until he got hurt earlier this season.
Since then he has struggled big time.

It looks like they're going through the motions, thinking they'll just turn it on in January.

He'll be transferring after this season, will be taking his "talents" elsewhere. Book it.

This team looks confused and unmotivated compared to their opponents. Two awful traits to have in athletics.
I'm not sure Iowa wins seven conference games this year.
I am not sure they win 3 conference games. This team is close to and/or has tanked.

People are jumping on the Dix bandwagon way too fast. I do think it is time to make the switch to Bowen as starter, with Ulis coming off the bench. Fran will need to give Bowen more leeway than normal. We need to stick with Perkins, and definitely not at PG. He is in a funk, but is our most athletic player, have to ride it out.

I think Perkins is tired of Pmac and his lack of effort and it has affected his play as well. Playing four on five defense very seldom works.

Dix has been consistent when he’s in. He makes good decisions with the ball, has shown some level of ability to knock down open shots, and plays pretty good defense. Should he be guaranteed 25mpg? Not necessarily, but I’d like to see him get some more and longer looks

His defense sucks and is becoming a liability. Might be time to give Bowen the keys and prepare for the future. Ulis is just as bad...

Backcourt of Bowen/Dix and see what happens.

My starting 5 would be Bowen, Dix, CMac, KM and Rebracca.

Also Pat needs to sit until he quits shooting shots on the run and can rebound.
This is pretty much the way I see it too including the starting lineup.

I'd also add, Pat should sit until he actually plays defense in addition to his poor shot selection and lack of rebounding. PMac really hurts this team more than helps.

I don't disagree that he has at least earned some more minutes, but people are plugging him in as the starter. I never said not to play him. Just too many knee jerk reactions. Guy is still quite green and has not really played many minutes against top level teams yet.

More than any other player TPs offensive struggles are effecting his defensive energy and focus.

Hes been a very good defender in the past but recently its been pathetic.

Im not sure about jumping on too fast.

If it was my decision I'd switch Patrick and Dixs places in the rotation.

This would never be an option for Fran for obvious reasons, but there shouldnt be any reason Iowa can't play 3 guards like the majority of teams.

I agree its beyond time for Bowen to take over.

He looks like a different player from the start of the season because he's getting the Toussaint treatment but the talent is still there he just needs to be able to learn on the job and play through mistakes.

This thread..... Pmac isn't coming out of the starting lineup until his playing days are over. Period.

Tony isn't right. He's probably the second most talented player but right now he just looks frustrated and unfocused out there. Whether it's mental or physical, he's not playing close to his abilities. Kris and Rebraca are the only 2 guys that are playing at a higher level right now. Everyone else is either very meh (Cmac) or just bad. I'm wondering if there isn't a locker room issue.

I think everyone knows this, I was simply saying what I would do.

The only possibility of him being replaced would be with Connor but I'm expecting Connor will probably replaced Ulis before that happens.

Idk something needs to change and a fire needs to be lit under some guys. If that means benching Perkins (who is supposedly playing hurt anyways) and seeing what Dix can do, maybe it’s for the best. I’m not against it

I think at times like this you need to lean into the leadership. Point guard play has been disappointing and CMac has been one of our best players this year. Start CMac at point and Tony at the 2.

As much as it pains me to say, Sandfort is killing us. Dix should get his minutes at the 2 and Sandfort should be playing strictly inside.

He was certainly one if the five best players last night for Iowa, although that wasn't a big measuring stick.

He’s never really been super consistent. Has he? Also check out his FT % this year BTW. Way down … interesting.

The whole team looks way out of sync. They have no identity nor play with purpose.
Watching last night this was my thought as well. They just don't have an identity and they all seem to have caught the yips from Sandfort.

This is the first team under Fran that hasn't had any fight so chemistry could be an issue. It isn't a surprise if true with the different leash lengths Fran has for certain players.

Down 3 when Conner entered the game. Down 20 a few minutes later. Not all his fault but he and Patrick playing together is a terrible combo.
