Two Hawkeye mentions in the Top 30. I feel like King might even be a touch underrated, IMO he's as good as both Jackson & Humphrey.

Ehh... I don't know if I'd choose Beathard over Chad Kelly, JT Barrett or Baker Mayfield. (is this writer an Iowa grad?)

Not a bad haul. Is there any way the fighting Capt Kirks don't win the West? Back to back? Any less than ___ wins is a disappointment?

Discuss.

My guess
1st round
Desmond King

2nd Round
Jaleel Johnson

3rd Round
CJ Beathard

5th round
Greg Mabin
Cole Croston

6th
George Kittle

FA's
Leshun Daniels
Faith Ekakatie
Matt Vandeberg

Yes, back to back if our team can stay healthy. That's the biggest factor. CJ is the real deal, so is King. Really hoping CJ can stay healthy all year and show what he's got. If we lose him, I may start to worry a little. Josey Jewell is also an absolute wrecking machine on defense.

All CJ has to do is stay healthy. I wouldn't trade CJ for ANY quarterback in the country. Hell, look what the kid accomplished last year on one leg.

No, there is no better combination of tangibles and intangibles than the Iowa Hawkeyes' CJ Beathard.

Thought I saw somewhere that King is currently projected around the middle of teh first round. It's just one man's opinion, but still a good sign.

I love CJ and I believe he will make it to the NFL. But JT Barrett is ridiculously talented. I'm not sure I could take CJ over him.

I remember getting laughed at for declaring CJ an NFL talent when he wasn't the starter. CJ is the goods. Hope he gets ball out quicker, never misses the easy ones, always throws past the sticks on 3rd down, and works the middle with success this year. Best QB in the country this year. 1st round pick.

Predicting CJ @ #8 and King @ #15. With a big year and another top 10 finish + bowl win, CJ could seriously contend for the Heisman and be the top pick. Dream big, CJ.

You're getting laughed at for thinking CJ will go #8. That is, unless you meant the 8th pick in the third round.

I think King will be late 1st, Johnson in the 2nd, Beathard in the 3rd, Mabin/Kittle in the 5th, Croston in the 7th

Quarterbacks in the NFL have become such a commodity, too much in my opinion (Seahawks, Ravens and Broncos prove you don't need a great QB to win all the time). Maybe its the media saying "Brady vs Manning" and "this quarterback has __ wins against team ___" and focusing so much on the position, or a marketing tactic to make the quarterbacks the big stars/faces of their franchise.

I agree. We don't need CJ to be good, just a combination of Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning and Joe Flacco.

Well if our defense doesn't turn out to be the 2013 Seahawks, 2015 Broncos or 2012 Ravens, then maybe he will need to up his game to just above mediocre like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers.

Im good with any of the combinations mentioned above.

I don't think Daniels is undrafted. If he has a full healthy season I think he is a 5-7th round pick, his measuresables will make him a combine warrior, plus if he has a full year without injury he should put up decent stats.

Is JT as ridiculously talented with Iowa's receivers/backs? Ohio State's QB's have never amounted to anything in the NFL so being surrounded by some of the best athletes in college football just might make them look more ridiculously talented than they really are.

I think this is pretty spot on at this point, I think there could be some movement depending on senior year from these lads. I would say JJ is a bit high at this point, simply due to being out of position sometimes, but sky is the limit because he can be a dominate force. I think Kittle could sky rocket up to 4th round with strong senior year. None the less good list

This is a good point, needs to have good senior year and show can stay healthy:
+ Size, speed for size, agility for size, good pad level, high character, playing in pro style offense, will put up #'s at combine
- Injury history, below average hands, blitz pick up
