I misread the movie thread as TV and put a post in it that was about TV series. So figured I’d start a separate thread.

Top 5 off top of head not in order:

  • Justified
  • Hill Street Blues
  • The Wire
  • Monk
  • Magnum PI (original)
Honorable mention: Law & Order for sheer longevity and always being there when you’re home sick from work 🙂

I’ve been enjoying Black Monkey on AppleTV lately, and really like that, but I honestly haven’t watched any drama detective shows in 10 years or so. I did also recently watch Brooklyn 99 on Netflix and enjoyed that.
Edit to add: Slow Horses

This is my wheel house

1. The Wire - Greatest show ever
2. The Shield - Groundbreaking show WWVMD
3. NYPD Blue - Sipowicz is the OG goat

Large gap

4. Justified
5. Line of Duty

Also for fans of this genre, I highly recommend going on a British binge. They know how to do cop mysteries right. I went on a binge recently and they're soooo good. My favorites:

1. Line of Duty
2. Happy Valley
3. Broadchurch
4. Unforgotten

All equally fantastic but Line of Duty is as good as it gets

I'd be lying if I didn't fall asleep to Magnum P.I. on my off nights of Mash, Hogan's Hero's, or Cheers. I can say tell you what is going to happen in every episode of Magnum. (old). CSB

Meh, we just decided to watch a series…. X Files is a long series and had lots of fans

Season 1, episode 4 they are in Sioux City, IA and went to Lake Okobogee……(seriously).

Few things I noticed:
- Sioux City Sheriff….should be Woodbury County Sheriff
- Lake Okoboji had tall hills and wooded…definitely not Iowa
- Sioux City Library doesn’t look anything like what they showed

I love it. This deserves its own thread.

I have a soft spot for Hawaii 5-0 and the Australian show Troppo.

I haven't gotten to The Shield or  Justified yet but I hear good things.

I doubt Goliath (Billy Bob Thornton) counts but I enjoyed that a lot.
