Top 5 Favorite Sports Movies Ever

1. Chariots of Fire
2. Vision Quest
3. Rocky II
4. Breaking Away
5. Personal Best (if you've seen it, you know why)

And for the record, I hate Remember the Titans. It is the absolute worst pile of Hollywood cliche crap ever made.

Moneyball

Senna

North Dallas Forty - You know Delma, he don’t like the needles.

Bad News Bears - Let’s not bring race into this Ahmad.

Vision Quest

Moneyball
Hoosiers
Tin Cup
Miracle
League of their Own

this is a really hard list to do as there are 5-10 other flicks that I could pick given my mood. I kind of left off the dumb comedies for this list

Hard to come up with a top 5, but just off the top of me head:

Rocky
Field of Dreams
Pride of the Yankees
Brian’s Song
Bull Durham

others I might put in at various times include: Hoosiers, Eight Men Out, Bang the Drum Slowly, Raging Bull, A League Of Their Own...
Damn good list.

I should probably do this. Stand back.

Let it Ride
Diggstown
Seabiscuit
Rocky
The Natural
Let it Ride is a great, underrated movie. Robbie Coltrane is fantastic. So is Michelle Phillips. And so are Jennifer Tilly.

Don't hate it but it knocks the shine off when you get the story and learn that a player revolt, supported by his own assistants, led to Boone's firing in the late 70's.

I do love this scene, though:

And I Remember the Titans ... we kicked their ass when I was in high school.

In no particular order:

Moneyball
Jerry Maguire
Tin Cup
Rocky
Miracle

HM: Mystery, Alaska and The Final Season
Mystery, Alaska is sneaky good.

Major league (only the original)
Bull Durham
Friday Night Lights
Eight Men Out
The Program

Would also like to add Eastbound and Down in the series category

Eight Men Out is really good. Pretty sad actually. I kind of like the more documented movies like that and Money Ball. North Dallas Forty is incredible. But I love Million Dollar Baby, Rocky.

Remember The Titans could get cheesy at times. (for me).

The Wrestler
Invincible
Cinderella Man
Days of Thunder
Warrior

Honorable mention:

Invincible was pretty good. They just REALLY embellished the actual story, though. Papale wasn't as "down and out" as he was portrayed. He was a semi-pro player who was sort of a ringer in the open tryouts that Vermeil had in Philly when he got there. He played for the Philadelphia Bell.

Good songs in the film, although, they pumped it full of songs a bit gratuitously, like Forrest Gump. Nearly every scene was launched with another FM radio standard from the early-mid 70's.

Bingo Long and His Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings is a great lesser known movie. I love that freewheeling, barn storming era.

Bad News Bears is still #1 for me.

Rocky
Vision Quest
Field of Dreams
Miracle
Borg vs McEnroe

The first four have been mentioned numerous times. The last one was a movie centered around mostly Borg and his upbringing, culminating on their famous Wimbledon match and the tension throughout the tournament. Really well done.

Days of Thunder
Grumpy Old Men (if you call ice fishing a sport)
Karate Kid
Friday Night Lights
Chariots of Fire
