I thought there were some great calls from B1Gs not included but #5, #2, and #1 do stick out.

linky

Sometimes people will look at me funny when I tell them that I listen to wrestling on the radio - but these two guys are just too fun to miss. Is it time to consider a larger stage for them?

GG- Our secret plan to get WMT600 to negotiate with Learfield to carry wrestling will be executed in the fall.

Hope you are serious, because if you are not, you are just plain mean to tease us like this.

#5 should have been higher on the list.

We had a couple of threads going about getting WMT to carry Iowa Wrestling. Last one was a suggestion from Ironside to email JJCook at WMT and ask about it, which some of us did. Ironside wants to have a WMT/Learfield meeting and I think we can support with an email barrage in the fall.

Plan B-The other option would be more more smaller stations to carry Iowa Wrestling.

Love it! We will listen on our way to St. Louis on Thursday morning. Go Hawks!!!

Finding advertisers will be the key. I've been doing this marketing thing for over 30 years and I've noticed that media buyers don't really understand the wrestling audience. If you look at KXIC advertisers, you'll find that most of them have some tie to the Hawks or the HWC and are as much making a donation as they are buying effective time. That will only go so far. If Scheel's, for example, were aware of the strong affinity wrestling fans, as a group, have for the outdoors and fitness, wouldn't Hawkeye broadcasts seem a good buy? Fareway is a major sponsor of Iowa-based sporting events - wouldn't it seem likely that a state wide audience might appeal to them? Broadcast radio is a challenged medium in today's world and we'll need to show them that Hawkeye wrestling can be profitable.

It's not possible to listen for free, but you could subscribe to Hawkeye All-Access/College Sports Live and get the stream online. It's $9.95/month, which works out to $30 or so for wrestling season.

Subscribe now and then cancel Sunday. It'll cost you the $9.95 but you get 3 days of NCAA.
