Haven’t seen a thread for him recently. He deserves one today, IMO. Really hasn’t had a great game by his standards yet this year but he’s still a massive weapon. Had ISU pinned deep multiple times which obviously paid off. Also flipped the field for us a time or two yesterday. And our punt coverage has been outstanding this season.

Coach Woods has it going on where special teams are concerned. We’ve had some excellent punters over the years, and no disrespect to them at all, but I don’t think we’ve had this kind of weapon at that position since the late, great Reggie Roby. Taylor is a truly special talent. And he fully expects to put every corner kick out inside the 5. Was clearly furious with himself when he missed the pylon by about a yard and got a touchback.

That combination of talent and high expectations for himself is great to see — and will be bad for opponents’ field position all year. Really glad he’s a Hawk!

Between Taylor, Shudak, and Jones Iowa might have the best group of specialists in CFB.

How many more yards would he have had on his long one if it wasn't picked up too soon? Man what a talent he is!

to me, it seems this staff goes out of their way to find kickers and punters. We have had good to great ones in the KF time. I just wish they would spend as much time on it for running backs and QBs. I would think we should be able to get a top 35 year after year. I despair over why we like strong-armed statues. I guess Labas can run, I hope it's a change in a new direction. We were all excited by Duece but the scouting reports on him is another strong-armed statue

I'm thinking another 10 easily. Possibly 15-20 if it continued bouncing the right way. Can't believe ISU didn't fair catch that. As it was it cost them massive field position and could have been much worse.

Roberts thought the ISU returner touched it. You could tell right away he was pissed at himself. At the time, I thought the ISU guy may have touched it too.

Do you actually think they don't spend as much time recruiting RB's and QB's? Seriously , you don't believe that they don't do you? Whether they close the deal or not is one thing, but they certainly DO offer top RB's. We actually been pretty damn good signing QB's. Yes were up in the air with Petras right now, and the book is still blank on Padilla. We'll see what Hogan, Labas, and May have. Most of them had pretty good offers besides Iowa. Padilla had a Georgia offer I believe. Our last three starters are all in the NFL as backups or at least practice squads, CJ has been an occasional starter, and I'd be willing to bet there aren't too many other NCAA school who can say that.

May appears to be pretty agile and has very good pocket presence in his films. Let's hope it is at the collegiate level as well.

I'll volunteer to be the scout Down Under for the next great future Aussie or Kiwi punter if the U wants to front me some expense money.:)

It's about competition. Many schools don't give scholarships to kickers/punters. Iowa does.

cool shirts from a cool dude.

All proceeds go to a good cause, too.

Not so sure about schools not giving scholarships to K/P. They don’t hand out as many m, but most still do.
How many P5 teams have two punters on scholarship? I’m guessing there are less than 10, Iowa being one of them.

Seriously didn't know he was spinning up. Holly cow this guy is a serious game changer. Agree that he is approaching Reggie Roby status. This kid is in rarefied air should be turning heads all over the league.

Not sure, but that’s what my post was getting at usually it’s at least one punter and one kicker and depends on the year as they may bring in someone to be there at least a year before the starter leaves. Most schools look at kicking and punting separately. We’re starting to go through the process now.
