What salary? Who's getting a salary?I think it's time for a College football salary cap.
$6.8 billion endowment...$260 million loan is doable.Assuming a 5% withdrawal plan, OSU's collective would need to create and maintain a fund balance of $260M to generate $13M in payouts to football players on an annual basis.
It's just a joke considering the vast amounts of money some schools are willing to pay in NIL money to win. What salary? Who's getting a salary?
It may not come from the school, but the net effect is the same. I'll grant your nit however. What salary? Who's getting a salary?

Self employment taxesCurious about the tax liabilities. It’s not like they have much to write off.
This is why if NIL continues as is, we will have to have a semi-pro league and then a true D1 league. One that has rules that are upheld, a championship that is a true championship, and only scholarship student-athletes (and walk ons). Basically a bigger D2 division. It's just a joke considering the vast amounts of money some schools are willing to pay in NIL money to win.
They'd never be able to use a cent of their endowment for any of this.$6.8 billion endowment...$260 million loan is doable.
Right...and, teams can't poach.Just in case your response is serious . . . schools can have nothing to do with the collectives that are being set up.
Well, they'd just invest in companies, that invest in companies, that invest in companies, that extend loans. They'd never be able to use a cent of their endowment for any of this.
That's what I was thinkingI think it's time for a College football salary cap.
"He (Ryan Day) said he believes right now top-shelf quarterbacks require $2 million in NIL money. Major offensive tackles and edge rushers he said are about $1 million."In todays NIL news:
Ohio State believes it needs $13 million in NIL money to keep its football roster together

We got 50 Cent QB, and two bit back-up."He (Ryan Day) said he believes right now top-shelf quarterbacks require $2 million in NIL money. Major offensive tackles and edge rushers he said are about $1 million."
Anybody still think Iowa will land Kadyn Proctor?
It won't breakdown that way...but I would assume the average starter gets 25K to 30K per year and the top 8-9 players are in the 500k to 1 million.$13million
85 scholarship players
$153k per player
Assuming walk ons don't get in on the action.
Why are there rules they will supposedly start following? They'd never be able to use a cent of their endowment for any of this.
Texas has 70k per OL that start plus 2 extra...Iowa ain't gonna touch the blue bloods in this game. Again, time for the non-NIL schools to start their own league, their own championship, and let the NIL_Semi-pro schools go be corrupt and lose all students from the athletes.I

Takes $$$ to make $$$.Texas has 70k per OL that start plus 2 extra...Iowa ain't gonna touch the blue bloods in this game. Again, time for the non-NIL schools to start their own league, their own championship, and let the NIL_Semi-pro schools go be corrupt and lose all students from the athletes.
Seriously, it'll all work itself out.Texas has 70k per OL that start plus 2 extra...Iowa ain't gonna touch the blue bloods in this game. And there goes parity once again. We were actually starting to make headway on parity amongst at least the top 50...Seriously, it'll all work itself out.
Colleges are currently figuring out who can play poker at the $100 table, who can play at the $10 table, and who can play at the $2 table. Same with athletes; many won't play at the $100 table!
Poor old Iowa is a top 25 program money wise. We'll be okay. And there goes parity once again. We were actually starting to make headway on parity amongst at least the top 50...
Endowments have been around for a very long time and for a very long time have been highly restrictive as to what types of things they can applied to.Why are there rules they will supposedly start following?
There is a wide gap between Iowa and the top 10 or so programs getting on board with this. Our historical success/overachieving won't work any more. Programs like Miami or recently Texas where Iowa has been able to outperform them on the field despite fewer built in financial advantages are going to completely out-recruit Iowa going forward. Players like Proctor or Epenesa that are highly rated High School kids are not coming to Iowa any longer, and when we do develop someone like Dallas Clark or Desmond King into a big time player they will be poached.Poor old Iowa is a top 25 program money wise. We'll be okay.
Business losses are a classic tax write off.Curious about the tax liabilities. It’s not like they have much to write off.
Rutgers, and Maryland will be laughing at us by the end of the decade. There is a wide gap between Iowa and the top 10 or so programs getting on board with this. Imagine the way Iowa treats the MAC currently is how schools like Texas A&M are going to treat Iowa in the future.
There are not enough players for thisThis is why if NIL continues as is, we will have to have a semi-pro league and then a true D1 league. One that has rules that are upheld, a championship that is a true championship, and only scholarship student-athletes (and walk ons). Basically a bigger D2 division.
Money wise, not NIL wise.Poor old Iowa is a top 25 program money wise. We'll be okay.
Top 25 NIL teams are sent to semi-pro league. That leaves 100+ teams for the other, more than enoughThere are not enough players for this
Where theres a win on the line, there's a wayEndowments have been around for a very long time and for a very long time have been highly restrictive as to what types of things they can applied to.
