Not sure when Kyle Snyder starts wrestling for the Buckeyes, but his potential backup Haines just beat the number 13 HWT in the country. The Hawks have some pretty interesting matchups with Illinois this Friday. Hope Clark's injury doesn't keep him out of the lineup. Richards has looked great this year and I'm not sure who Iowa's backup at 133 is.

Gilman vs Edelen- TF or pin for Gilman

Clark vs Richards- Toss up. Richards is wrestling well this year.

? vs Ervin- Toss at this point.

Sorensen vs Langenderfer- Sorensen, but will have to work hard for bonus as Langenderfer is pretty scrappy, tough on top too and could neutralize a lot of time with a tough ride.

Cooper vs Martinez- TF or pin for Martinez

Rhoads vs Rodriguez- Decision, possible major for Rodrigues.

Meyer vs Reinemann- We need a major or more here.

Brooks vs Koepke- 2 Illinois boys, Koepke was pesky at 197 last year but just too small. He looks strong at 184 and has a win over Brooks during his redshirt year. Brooks by dec but he better bring his good stuff.

Burak vs Lee- Burak can major here if he gets after it.

Stoll vs Black- Probably a toss up as heavy matches go. Need this one!

Thought they said Snyder would be back in early Feb for the Penn State dual as his first dual.

Will Clark be able to wrestle with his knee? Hope he's fully recovered, or I don't think we will see him square up with Zain. The risk just isn't worth it IMO (and prepare for all the tOSU fans to take up arms about seed protection).

Either way, I'll take Zain over Clark and Stoll over Black. Zain is on fire right now, and I think he out horses Clark in neutral so he can avoid taking bottom. Stoll just impresses more than Black, who may be on of the biggest under performers in memory considering his #1 rank in high school.

Iowa wins the dual comfortably. Illinois wins at 133, 157, 165 and 174. Iowa should bonus at 125, 149, 184 and maybe 197.

If Brunson wrestles and Clark doesn't, this actually could get ugly for the Hawks. It is amazing how match-ups can affect duals. I honestly think Iowa is clearly the best dual team(except PSU).

125 Gilman tech. Iowa 5-0
133 Richards major ? Iowa 5-4
141 Ervin dec. Illinois 7-5
149 Sorenson dec. Iowa 8-7
157 Martinez tech Illinois 12-8
165 Rodrigues dec. Illinois 15-8
174 tossup if Brunson goes Iowa HAS TO win this match to win the dual
184 Brooks dec. Koepke Illinois 15-11 but it has been noted that Koepke has beaten Brooks before
197 Burak maj. Illinois 15-14
285 Stoll dec. Iowa 17-15 without the results of 174

Illinois should be favored at 133(with Clark less than 100%), 141, 157, and 165.

Iowa should be favored at 125, 149, 184, and 197. 285 could put Stoll as a slight favorite.

With the above said, Iowa seems to find a way to win duals by winning a majority of the tossups and sneaking in an upset. Still it is very surprising to see a team have a legitimate shot(not saying likely) to win 7 matches

Richards is good but Clark seems to find a way to beat him. It could be interesting if Clark is not 100%.

Thought they said Snyder would be back in early Feb for the Penn State dual as his first dual.

Snyder is wrestling two duals this season (PSU and Wisconsin) plus B1Gs and NCAAs. And that's it. He'll be in Russia for the Yaraguin tournament at the end of this month but plans to be back in the states in time to wrestle Penn State. He'll be in Belarus for the Medved tournament in February and will miss the NWCA dual. He'll be heading into the post season with matches against Jan Johnson and Brock Howarth as his only folk-style competition of the year.
