Why is football the only sport that frowns on being successful?

Baseball you can slow down between bases, pump your fist, dance after crossing the plate. Basketball when you dunk, make a shot you are able to do various things to celebrate making the basket. Soccer you can slide across the grass after a goal, take your shirt off, run to the sidelines and dance. Hockey gets to celebrate after a goal. Wrestling gets to celebrate after winning\pinning. Volleyball they get to dance around after a point.

Just wondering why Football players are not allowed to celebrate by spiking the ball or such anymore. I know I don't agree with the whole freaking team suddenly breaking out in a dub-step.

Come on man!

Yes, in baseball you can run slowly around the bases and dance after crossing the plate ... and the next time you come to bat the pitcher throws at your head. If you run the bases to fast they'll throw at your head too.

If you spike the ball in basketball, you get t'ed up. In fact, if you stare at an opponent too long you'll get t'ed up.

In soccer you can celebrate as long as you want, but you better be ready when the ball is put back in play.

In football, you can celebrate - there are just limits, like other sports.

I sometimes wonder if some people that post on sports message boards, actually watch sports.

Kind of just like high school sports refs and umps to be honest

A think a comma would change the entire meaning of your last sentence, but if that is your thing, hey. Congrats on the new marriage news.

I think you were looking for river dance? A Dub step isn't a dance.

LOL at pretending football players don't and even can't celebrate. We need less of it not more.

Even more strange to bring up wrestling, sure they celebrate...and then they run right off the mat to a locker room.

I agree with your ethics (that's my M.O. as far as celebrating my own mediocrity), but we can't relate to catching an absolute strike of a touchdown pass from a gifted QB after a well-crafted and perfectly-timed route. In front of tens of thousands of people. In a game that millions are watching on TV. I won't comment on how I'd try to be a Regular Joe in that situation.

I love the guy who plays it straight, but that's not easy for them either.

The taunting celebrations of years past needed to be addressed. I think they have gone to far the other way. But to suggest you can't celebrate in football is silly.
