Travel Advice (Tarpon-Tallahassee)

I’m leaving tomorrow for Guntersville, Alabama, and usually take 19 up to Tallahassee, and then minor highways the rest of the way.

Reason is I’m not 100% confident towing my kayak at higher speeds on major highways.

Would y’all risk driving this initial route seeing that the hurricane just decimated much of the area?

Or just take 75—>10?

I saw drone footage of Crystal River yesterday and US 19 was under water. I just checked Google maps and many sections of US 19 are still closed.

Google maps and also Waze will frequently show when roads are closed.

75 probably will be moving really slow and might be one of the few ways to get to the other side of Trailerhassee.

I don’t really think I have a choice. 19 is most likely still mucked up. You think differently?

19 is very likely closed though Apple Maps says that it is open. 41 should be ok up to 90 if you want to stay off the interstate highways

Took 19 up to Tallahassee. Road was clear but littered with line men between Cheiftan and Perry. Dozens of crews on the road between Perry and I-10. Downed trees galore and lilting power line poles. Nothing really open in Perry either.
Perry took a walloping.
