Trey Creamer pick 6 yesterday in practice (video)

Still, Creamer still looks good. Fluid. Good ups. Made the catch look easy. We have a lot of good young talent. Maybe not 2018, but 2019 and after for sure.

I like that Iowa recruits guys like Jackson and Creamer who could easily be playing receiver at another school (or maybe even Iowa haha) and converts them to CB. Having ball skills, once technique, tackling, etc. are down, imo, gives our CB’s an extra edge

QB stared at the receiver the whole way.
Was a goal line route that was run horrible by 14. Should really press into defender and then on the break the ball should be there. High school level execution by him by rounding it off and giving the defender the clear eye view of what was coming. More on the receiver than the QB....

uno... Are you throwing some shade on Adam Shada?? Just kidding:rolleyes:. Iowa has been fortunate to be able find hard working kids at the DB position who made themselves better over time and the program has garnered a reputation for moving its developments to the NFL. The DB talent currently in the program at Iowa has never seemed better as it looks deeper and stronger than when KF first become HC after Hayden. And it certainly does not hurt having award winners like King and Jackson in your recent campaigns. Hoping for the renewal of Manny Rugamba. The last three DB classes seem like they have real found some stars of the near future. Hope so. Watching Iowa's defense get Pick 6s is very fun and exciting. Go Hawks!

14 is Groeneweg.

Not a good route by the young man especially on the goal line. He is (I promise) coaches up to be physical and then crest space off the cut...didn’t do either
I was just indicating who the young man was. Hopefully he follows Easley's lead and works to be a technician ... because, as you rightly point out ... technique is critical if you want to get open (and not put your QB in a bad position).

I agree, but this is a great teaching moment with film to show him the importance of running good routes. I think it is great it happened for that purpose. Might push him to work harder and understand the importance of working on his techniques.

Looked like a combo of QB and WR.
WR ran a banana.
Throw late and inside.
The throw would not of been inside if the receiver ran the proper route. Soft and rounded....guarantee he heard about way more than the QB

Groeneweg is already a senior. I doubt he is going to improve that much in the next 6 months since he hasn't in 3 (or 4) years already. Not to say he can't, but seems like if you don't get it in 3 years, you aren't going to get it.

Fwiw, Groeneweg is a very good WR who has impressed this spring and very well might play a factor on the field this fall. I wouldn't base his ability off one play that wasn't as bad as portrayed, and the QB in fact took the majority of the criticism. Take it or leave it, I have avoided jumping in, but just wanted to share that he's actually doing very well.
