Trey James is in the portal. If I remember correctly, Iowa was recruiting him pretty hard but he chose Pitino and Iona.

Hardly played there. 3 years eligibility left.

Yep, Iowa was in on him until Pitino came calling.

This from May 11, 2020. He committed to IONA two months later.

This is an interesting prospect....I agree that he might be a Mulvey duplication (which could be good) but I suspect that's not what we need to take next year to a top level B10 finish......I so wonder why he didn't play more at the Iona level.......

"Legit 6'11"" listed as 6'9" by Iona, interesting. Had over 700 blocks in high school, but looks like lower level competition. We could use a rim protector.

ESPN lists him as playing 2 games the prior year as well. No clue if that's true but I do appreciate his inner Brunner in going from 6'11 to 6'10 to 6'9 all in the span of 2 years. By the time he finishes college he may be a solid 6'6.

He was listed in the class of 2021. Apparently he graduated early, they enrolled in school in tha spring and played in 2 games, maintaining his rs year. So technically he was in school for the 2020-2021 year. That anyone would have graduated early during that Covid year just so they could have the chance to play at Iona tells me a LOT about his intelligence. 🙂
