Trivia time - What NCAA basketball team with the worst record won it all?

I don't remember their record but a few years back UConn had to win four games in their conference tourney to get an NCAA at large bid and ended up running the table and winning the NCAA Championship.
Nova when they beat Georgetown? Just a guess.
Since seeding began in 1979 only 1 time has all four #1 seeds made the Final Four.
2008 (Kansas, Memphis, UNC, and UCLA)
And only 3 times has no #1 seed made it. 2011, 2006 (man, Iowa had a shot that year if only!), and 1980 (Iowa's last Final Four)

Valvano's NC State team was 26-10, so must have been about 17-10 before the conference tournament. IIRC, every one of their post-season wins was a white knuckle affair.
KU lost 3 times to OU before they finally beat them in KC...
KU also started the regionals in Lincoln Nebraska that year..
I Remember going to that regional and Valvano and NC State were upset in the first round..KU had some help getting to the Final 4 that year from what I can remember..
