Trump 500 Billion

Something something private market something something. Well, now we know what one of the big motivators for them supporting Trump are.

You know, I don't actually mind this. I'm not sure I agree with it, but I don't mind it. But stop using the argument that if EV's were viable the government wouldn't need to help and then turn around and do something like this. Just say that's not how you want money to be spent. At least it's honest.

I mean, exactly what kind of "infrastructure" does AI need, anyway? It's not like they need to build charging stations all over the country. What overhead do the tech companies need help with? From what I can tell, AI is taking over without the government doing a thing. Also, why are we building Skynet again?

No joke. His tech buddies won't even spend this money to help the US taxpayer. They'll just take it and spend it on programs to kill jobs, stock buybacks, and bonuses for themselves.

The companies will invest $100 billion in the project to start, with plans to pour up to $500 billion Stargate in the coming years. The project is expected to create 100,000 US jobs, Trump said.

Could have built a hell of an AI center with the country’s largest wind farm. Probably worth the cancer risk.

This is private investment.
They just wanted to know if the government was going to strangle the effort before making the investment.

The last sentence in the article is the key:

Trump on Monday also reversed an executive order passed by former President Joe Biden in 2023 that aimed to monitor and regulate AI risks.

So he is removing any oversight on this whatsoever. Boy, I feel better already.

How is this not a massive anti trust violation?
Obviously jv’s are subject to a/t scrutiny, but it depends on just what this will do, the existence of other ai competitors, and whether the co venturers will continue with their own ai initiatives.

At least that’s what matters in a post Lina khan world
