They should have canceled tonight's RNC events and focused the full power of the presidency on the weather disaster unfolding in Louisiana. They could have put the pre-recorded, minor speakers online. Anyone deemed important could be moved to tomorrow.

Trump could have spent the night looking like a president. Work with the governors of LA and TX to stage the national guard to quickly move into areas where they are needed. He could be whipping up a FEMA response with temporary housing moving that direction. He could be meeting with the leaders of the Red Cross and private business on how those impacted are going to be taken care of. He could have acted as if he was organizing a response by utility companies across the country who will be moving to the impact zone as soon as safe. Some are on the way now.

I am sure all this is happening behind the scenes, but when you are entering the home stretch of a presidential campaign, acting like a president is the best thing you can do to win a second term. Trump blew it.

What you laid out makes sense to rational people who put the country first. Unfortunately, this would have infringed on Donald’s TV time. We can’t have that.

His real big missed opportunity was after George Floyd. 99% of the population can watch that video and say it’s wrong. He blew a golden opportunity to unite people and say “that’s wrong, we should do something about this”.

But at the end of the day, the boot lickers don’t care if he’s presidential or not. All about owning the libs.

I saw a TV interview the other night w/ ex-Gov, Tom Vilsack. He told the story that just before taking office, he abd other newly elected governors were sent out East to attend a “ How to be a governor” 2 day meeting. He was mentored by the Governor from Georgia and run thru his paces for two days. One of the questions he asked his mentor was “What’s the most important thing I need to know as Governor?” He was surprised by the answer he received...the Governor told him his #@ job as governor is to understand how his state’s emergency response system works, make sure it is funded appropriately and adequately manned. He promised Vilsack that sometime in his first year there will be an emergency to respond to and if it isn’t properly responded to, it will make no difference to the voters how he feels about taxes, education, road building or anything else. If that emergency is reacted too improperly, next election he will be looking for a new job...
Vilsack said that Governor was right...w/in 6 months Of his taking office, there was a major tornado that ripped up some Iowa town.

Trump never wants to have anything less than top billing. Many people say this is why he's stayed married to Melanja. She is okay with staying in the shadows, and never contradicts him.
Donald would never move away from a show about him to a show about something that will kill people.

Pretty much ALL the States that will be feeling the wrath of Laura are Red States that will vote for him anyway.

He doesn't give a shit until there's a photo op to be had... like in Cedar Rapids last week.

Trump's pretty wrapped up in himself. He might not be aware that there is a hurricane (or two) about to rip up the south.

Trump did condone what happened to George Floyd

Well, they had to let Joni Ernst spew her lies, so they really couldn't have passed on the evening.

No need to cancel convention, he can angry tweet at the hurricane (Preview: It's treating him very unfairly) between speakers. The rest happens during the response, he'll take credit for things he had no hand in and blame others when things go wrong. Anyone can be POTUS during a disaster!
