The issue with fentanyl is that the cartels are producing counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl. So people take a pill thinking it’s one thing and instead they get a lethal dose of fentanyl.

Pretty sure the only place you should be getting any pills is from a pharmacy. If pharmacies are lacing pills with fentanyl, we have a major problem.

I would be in favor of US intelligence finding these production facilities and telling the government to eliminate the problem or US special forces will.

Unlike most opiates, fentanyl can be lethal with the first use. It only takes a two-milligram dose, similar to 5-7 grains of salt, to cause death for an average size adult.

43 Pounds doesn't sound like much but can do a lot of damage.
Still, on a scale of things, it's minimal and shouldn't be the cause of a tariff war. A man was busted with 70 pounds of fentanyl in Boston not too long ago. Last year, customs probably had the largest bust ever at the Port of Lukeville, with over 1,000 pounds.

From what I’ve read, we have given them no guidance or metrics on measuring how successful (or not) they are in stopping whatever flow Trump is referencing. And therefore how to ratchet back the tariffs.

So basically, Trump’s answer is When I say so.” Which means this is not a serious endeavor.
Everything is by the seat of his ass, or if someone makes him mad, or what he sees on Fox. No vision, no plan.

How many people in America, say, two months ago, genuinely believed that Canada was ripping us off and in bed with the cartels and killing Americans with drugs, and it's time for a trade war and effort to make them the 51st state? If that was an SNL sketch in January, it would be mocked for being so incredibly stupid and impossible. But here we are.

I would love to know what data will be used to determine when Canada has reached its required level of compliance so that the tariffs can be lifted.

This is next-level stupid.

Did Canada block one of Trump's golf courses or something? I don't get why he hates them so much.

There was a popular story the other day in the NYT that offered up three ideas:

- Hotel ventures that went bust. Both were licensed to use the Trump brand.

- Picture of Trudeau that looked like he was about to kiss Melania (below)

- Transactional nature of Trump, acquiring Canada as 51st state and its minerals would be the ultimate real estate deal

Okay, so you answered below, but let's be honest, if you are buying Oxy on the street you are already making bad choices. And, if it isn't the Oxy that gets you, something else will soon enough.
So they get what they get, then? Be careful talking like that. People might start mistaking you for a Republican.

You're right, if you can't trust junkies and drug dealers to follow proper manufacturing and labeling practices, who can you trust these days?
Desperate people make desperate choices. If someone is suffering from chronic debilitating pain and doesn’t have access to licensed meds for whatever reason, they’re going to take what they can get.

The ironic thing about the “just let ‘em die” stance is that many of the same people espousing that point of view also think we should just legalize everything.

Karoline is a fat mouthed, lying liar, just like her boss.

She states last year there was a 2,000% increase in fentanyl (whatever that means). By what measure or metric is this statistic derived? According to the DEA seizures of fentanyl in 2024 declined from ~27,000 pounds to ~21,900 pounds, a 19% decrease year over year. She's claiming it increased by a factor of 20. Such an obvious lie to anyone paying attention.

Furthermore, in 2024 the US experienced the first decline in drug overdose deaths since 2018 with a 14.5% decrease in deaths from June 2023 to June 2024.

If these journalists were doing their jobs, they would be pressing insolent Barbie for her sources of these statistical fantasies.

Brought across by Americans. Stop American fentanyl trafficking!!
