"Moderate" independents need to pay attention. Trump's casual relationship with facts and truth, as bad as that is, is less concerning with his love for right-wing authoritarians and how well it plays with his base. One key difference is that Hungary is in a strategic location in Europe and has perhaps more influence than they normally would given the war in Ukraine and his relationship with Putin.
Brazil meanwhile, while obviously not unimportant economically, doesn’t have the same political importance currently as a result.
There’s a difference between making nice with people you’d rather not because they’re the head of state and doing so when you invite him to your home when you’re not in office.
