Turk, is the best option at 141 but T&T won’t pull his RS. He continues to grow and he’s now dominating Ryan and Carton in the room. IMO, Turk and Kemerer could AA this season. Kemerer and Sorenson are even in the room and it’s almost certain Sorenson makes the move to 57 next year as Kemerer slides in at 49 and will be a title contender. The hawks are going to be set for many years with Turk at 141 and Kemerer at 149. Then add Marinelli, Young, and Troy at 57, 65, and 74. With Lee and the other light weights you have a very powerful team for a few back to back to back title runs. There just may not be any Iowa kids in the starting lineup. Has there ever been an Iowa team with no Iowa kids starting?

If Grothus can't take hold of the spot by Midlands there's a fairly decent chance they go with Turk.

Saying Kemerer and Sorenson are "even" in the room seems like an embellishment.

I agree Kemerer forces BS to 57 next year. He's that type of talent.

Wilcke 84 and Holloway 97 will be starters from Iowa.

If indeed Sorensen does move to 157 next season, and Kemerer is a true 149 & a bit small for 157 then this 4 year plan for this weight range seems pretty good to me. These are with hatched chickens too Tarp. ;)

The only unhatched chicken I think Iowa needs for future greatness is a bona fide stud ala Spencer Lee

I'd say get Kem to 141 this year if Grothus can't get down. I don't know how Micah Jordan is doing it, he seemed like a big 45 lber coming out of high school just like Kem.

No...Taketop is from PA and is our resident Young Guns expert...He's a "friend of mine."
Ok sorry to call him a troll. I have watched several practices and he is at the least seeing things different than I have.It has been a week since I have seen a practice though so maybe huge strides were made.
Wrestler A dominated wrestler B one day I watched and wrestler A would not be considered an AA candidate. I won't say who wrestler B is but he is pertinent to this conversation. Maybe it was a bad matchup that day. Kemdog and Turk are studs.

taketop is the guy last summer who guaranteed that DeVos would tear up the room and be a starter (up three weight classes).

Huge strides weren't made in a week. Of that I assure you. I would take the OP's info with a huge grain of salt. You folks can decide for yourself what you want to believe.

Taketop, in August you said Kemerer was beating Sorensen. I admit I am a skeptic by nature so when you now say they are even I become suspicious of your evaluation. I think Sorensen IS and Kemerer will be a great Hawk so I really want to believe what you say is true, I really do.

I'm confused by the above exchange of opinions, but if the implication is that it's premature to call them both AA caliber this year, I would expect Turk to be the one who's further away. Kemerer was rated significantly higher coming out of HS six months ago (#9 Flo P4P class of '15 vs #61 for Turk). I'm going to proceed with the half-formed opinion that Kemerer gives Sorensen all he can handle, that we may see Kemerer at 149 and Sorensen at 157 in 2016-17 (which I like), and that we should hope for the best with Grothus at 141 this year and not burn Turk's shirt. If I misunderstood, I'll figure it out soon enough.

I love this thread but this really just shows what a great job TnT and Morningstar are doing. I remember a few years ago many saying TnT weren't recruiting well enough. Well...I think LAXHAWK hit a home run with his breakdown. Throw in Spencer Lee and let mejia or Rentria lock down 33 and we're looking solid.

Looks great for third place, I'll take it. I guess I have to change my expectations. Going for top three guys instead of National championships and the points to win the NCAAs.

I agree...I don't doubt that Kemdawg will someday be there or that Turk is potentially ready to fill a spot, but I think Taketop's take on it is wrong. I think both are 2-2 guys, maybe round of 12. Now, I say this having watched a lot of Kemerer but not enough on Turk. The guys in the room like Gilman, Brands etc are hinting he's ready and will go as far as his attitude takes him.

I wish Iowa was in the Scuffle tournament to see how the young guys would do against some other top level competition. Kemerer vs. Retherford would have me especially interested. I think the shirts will stay on this season, but the Hawks look solid as always moving forward. Gilman, Clark, Kemerer, Sorenson and Marinelli is a solid core to any line up, and of course there are other studs in there as well.

I still can't see young Spencer Lee wrestling for the Hawks. I have a feeling he will be the future 125/133 of Penn State.

I get tired of the scuffle talk, I am happy with iowas long history at the midlands, but that's just my opinion.
Midlands has been just as tough as the scuffle in terms of ranked individuals. The scuffle has had higher ranked teams but roughly the same number of ranked individuals. No reason we should stop going to midlands

The Hawks only get about 12-15 invites to the Midlands, so it would be nice if some additional hawks got an invite to the Scuffle.

While Turk and Kemerer are progressing very nicely and more than holding their own in the room, the OP is embellishing quite a bit. They both have quite a bit of work to do on their mat wrestling before they're ready to be starters... Cash Wilke is another name that is going to surprise some. He is coming on quickly and will be much better than so far advertised.

The scuffle is not an open. If it is not listed as an official competition date on the schedule we can not send anybody

Posting from a tree or does this warm weather and south wind have you back on flat ground?

Still in a tree... It's all day sit time. I've logged 4 consecutive 9 1/2 hour days and have 3 to go... I've got some of the best rut footage I've ever gotten over the last few days. Had 2 shooters cross the turnips at mid-day yesterday at 60 yards otherwise it's been all 2 1/2- 3 1/2 year olds. I just passed on a 140" ten pointer at 7 yards 45 minutes ago. I occupy the slow times with HR and pocket yatzee.; ).

It might pay to pull Turk's shirt if 141 is going to be a dog weight. I know T&T don't like to go this direction but one advantage to wrestling a true freshman is that it avoids the burnout of going four straight years.

Unfortunately we won't know until Jan whether Grothus will be in the lineup, and we won't know until Feb whether he's got the right stuff to score big points at NCAAs. Unless Turk pins his way to a Midlands title I'd be wary of pulling his shirt in Feb with no duals under his belt and a crappy Big-10 seed. The 3-5 points he might score at NCAAs are less important than the 20 he could score 5 years from now. My money's on Grothus or bust.

From what I have seen Turk is the best option we have at 141 including Grothus. While Kemmerer is progressing nicely and at times can go even with Sorensen he's not ready to move him out of the spot just yet.

Arrowed a 15 point a week ago today. It's go time.
