Turkey is the worst meat

Worst? Nah, but it’s definitely down there imo. The dark meat is ok. White meat too easy to overcook and get dry.
We often don’t do a turkey and we have a couple family members who get a little bent out of shape at that. When they host they do a big turkey and it’s always awful. Dry and tasteless.

I bought a smaller bird this year and unfortunately overcooked it. Dry as hell. Oh well. It was smaller because it was an organic version at Costco since all others were sold out. Spent 47 dollars on a 14 pound turkey.

I'm good with deli turkey, have no problem with ground turkey as a beef substitute in chili and white people tacos. But yeah, the traditional Thanksgiving turkey? Usually pretty meh.

Does anyone reach for a turkey breast over a chicken breast for your day to day meals?

Bil brought a smoked turkey that was delicious. Best turkey I've ever had. I even liked the white meat.

Other than that I agree with op usually.

The turkey I had today was excellent. Juicy and tender. Hell, it was baked even...brother didn't dry it out one bit. And I gots me some leftoverz...corn, taters and gravy, more turkey...tomorrow's gonna be good.

I will freely admit, turkey is down the list for me too, but when cooked right it's still quite good.

Wifey cooked a breast only this year, as we had a small crowd. It was really good pretty dang good. The carrot souffle was awesome.
I have been making chile these days with Turkey sausage, as mammal meats are off limits.

I optimized my time today and got a smoked turkey from Jimmy Jacks. It was excellent. I might try one from Tomas for Christmas.

I had a 13 lb frozen JennieO and it was arguably the best turkey I’ve had in years.
I like white turkey breast the next day in a sandwich but I actually like turkey legs and the browner darker part of the bird.
It’s all in how you prep it and keep it covered up to stay moist.
We had the best Thanksgiving gathering we’ve had in years despite the deaths of two younger people in our family who left behind younger children. I think we all appreciate each other more.

Baked in the oven… you might be right.

Smoked or fried? It’s fantastic if done well.
