TV announcers for MSU game?

Calhoun is also a charter member of the "elite" coaches, who helped turn a program into a powerhouse by cheating any way he could. Lousy announcer.

To be fair, Dakich has really been talking up and plugging the Hawkeyes the past couple of days. Pleasant change

I felt like the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half he was too busy giving excuses as to why MSU wasn't winning, then all of sudden 5 minutes left and its time to praise Iowa.

I thought Calhoun had great insight and was making good points but just stumbled too much and you couldn't understand him all the time. Which is a huge problem for an announcer.

Calhoun is a prime example that not all great coaches should announce games.

Seriously? He didn’t notice Iowa was on the floor until about the 3:45 mark in the 2nd half.
After Iowa had just taken its biggest lead of the game and MSU committed an unforced turnover, his comment was “the scoreboard doesn’t show it, but this is a different Michigan State team.” (or something to that effect)
He spent the first 37 minutes of the game saying MSU was about to make a game of it.

Calhoun was definitely hard to listen too. If this was his first game, I'll give him a pass, but I hope he doesn't get too many more high profile games.

I actually like Calhoun doing color. But I hate put-upon enthusiasm (Dick V, Dakich), so what he does makes sense to me. The rambling/unfinished sentences make it sound like it's an actual person watching the game and not someone who's TV-trained to make a non-point sound like a point. I also LOVE most accents from the northeast.

i've always liked dakich.
that being said - i was kind of excited to see who we had for this game.
benetti just scored the white sox job, and i didn't know much about him (thought he did a nice job)
calhoun is a legend (like it or not), and while he sounded 'old', i didn't miind hearing his take on the game.

I think you guys are wrong about Calhoun. Do you really want another guy who's been trained in broadcasting doing color? I guess I just find that incredibly boring. Fake excitement is way more annoying to me than listening to the passing thoughts of someone who knows a little more about the game.

I'm also very annoyed with fellow Iowa fans over the whole "THE MEDIA DON'T RESPECT US ENOUGH" horseshit. If it's even true, there's a reason they don't. Why do you need to hear glowing admiration for the Hawkeyes? You're watching the games. Admire them yourself.

Calhoun rarely gave Iowa credit until that said 3:45 mark in the 2nd half.
Dakich says silly thing, but Dakich is a major upgrade from "not one dime" Jim Calhoun.

At least Calhoun gave Iowa some credit.
If The Eye was doing commentary, you wouldn't have heard any credit from him.
He would've been talking about other teams in the NCAA.
North Carolina, baby. Duke, baby. Calhoun, baby.

I challenge you all to watch a game without any sound. I've done it when there was an announcing team I didn't like and found it refreshing to listen to my own thoughts and observations. It's not for everyone, but it does offer a different perspective.
