Twenty bowls, in 24 seasons, Bull or Bear for Kirk❓️

In 2001, Kirk Ferentz, in his third season, as head coach, earned his first bowl trip, with his third team.

I began my over two decades with the Rivals Network, and have enjoyed visits across the Network visiting with other fan sites, on their free channels.

So, back to my question, as we begin the New Year on a new branded Hawkeye Rivals site or should I better say Iowa branded Rivals site.

So, are you bullish or bearish on the 2023 Iowa Football team, Kirk's 25th edition❓️

The main difference between bullish and bearish is an attitude or belief in relation to the stock market. A bullish person acts with a belief that prices will rise, whereas bearish investors act with the belief prices will fall.

From 2018 to 2021, Iowa finished in the AP Top 25 team for four straight seasons.

Iowa won their first bowl game in 2001, but it wasn't until 2002 to 2004, that Kirk and his teams finished three straight seasons in the Top 25 in the AP at #8 each year.

So, I am Bullish on the Hawkeyes for 2023 season, despite not knowing the full roster and staff line up in the New Year 🤔

The Hawkeyes look to return their entire specialists in special teams, which should be ELITE in 2023, after an inconsistent season in 2022, especially in loss at Illinois, as punter Tory Taylor pointed out.

The offense took baby steps vs. Kentucky. First-game starter QB Joe Labas lead Iowa to a 7-0 lead and the Hawkeyes won the game with complementary football in all three phases of the game.

Iowa's defense was at an ELITE level on Saturday to close out season.

It may be a reason one rating blog SITE considers Iowa a Top 25 program at 7-5, now 8-5❓️

Iowa's five losses were quite disappointing, with two of those loses not highly surprising, since the B1G 2 was front and center in 2022.

Three losses nearly game down to one major play or call or turnover or non-turnover:
  • vs. Iowa State (goal line fumble, no TD ruling)
  • at Illinois (over-ruled strip & TD by Riley Moss)
  • vs. Nebraska (Cooper DeJean injury)

The past half month was disappointing for many throughout Hawkeye nation, but we open 2023 on this Rivals site with hopefully optimism for Hawkeye Football in the coming year.

  • The offense should be better in 2023, with a better QB room, and better QB in seven years, since CJ Beathard went to NFL
  • The new linebacker room should benefit greatly from a stronger defensive line and a secondary room that was already among Top 5 in Power 5/FBS
  • Elite special teams personnel in skill roles, new coverage leaders will need to emerge
Biggest questions on other threads is coaching staff. I think we will see a revamp, either by Kirk Ferentz or due to a member or two leaving.

My projection, since my recuperation from prostate cancer surgery ♋️ the week of the Nebraska game is Iowa will join Michigan with co-offensive coordinators. Nothing official, but as I have spoken to other Hawkeye ticketholders, I think natural progression, after two very bearish seasons on offense for Iowa.

Fight for Iowa and Happy New Year, as I get ready for Church this morning 🌄
