Hockaday making an appearance. LIsted as an /or with Jones behind Welch. Welch has played good at MLB the last two weeks. Should be interesting to see who wins out between him and Hockaday once Hockaday is fully healthy.

I think this season could be special, so I don't want to look ahead yet. But, there are really not a lot of seniors in these two deeps and most of them are in very deep position groups. If we can avoid getting hit too hard by guys leaving early, the roster for next year will be salty (on paper).

We are setting up nicely for back-to-back double digit win seasons! Fingers crossed!

I do understand why Amani Jones is not starting at mlb and I'm not suggesting that he start. However, his closing speed combined with raw hitting ability should be utilized somewhere. Perhaps at FB? Basically a seek and destroy job that he takes to like a duck to water. Play him both ways -- backup at both mlb and fb.

Isn't Amani on the kickoff team? If he can stick to his lane coverage he will blow somebody up sooner or later.

True. But kick-offs occur only a handful of times (that too on good days). If he could be destroying a lb, DE, or DB (when the sap decides to blitz) play after play, maybe then msu takes injury timeouts 'coz they actually need it.
I can already see flaws in my argument however -- 'coz we have no idea whether he can help out on 4th and short as a ball carrier, or catch a pass on the rare occasion we unveil that play. Kirk ball thrives on multi-faceted well rounded players, so maybe he's slotted perfectly.

Little late for position change (especially other side of the ball) for this season. Don’t need a fullback going the wrong way causing collision/fumble. Next season? Maybe.

Amani's not playing due to the mental side of the position. Dividing his attention would be detrimental to his development. I still think he starts at mlb next year.

The worst thing for him right now is thinking about "blowing somebody up". That's a recipe for a flag and the bench.

Yeah ... going into next season, I expect the competition at the LB positions ... especially at MIKE to get re-opened. I don't think that ANY seeming incumbent is safe. I think that they each have to approach it like they have ... have each guy be prepped to start ... and you do your job when you're called upon. If you do that ... you'll still likely play ... and, more importantly, you're helping to make your team better!

Toren Young is listed but can someone confirm that he will be available? I forget why but ive been under the impression that he might not go against psu.

We are starting to get some real good depth developing in numerous groups. Back to back 10+ win seasons would be incredible. Talent is up and coaching is as well. This is the season to set a new trend for more winning year in and year out.
