Is there anyone on here sharp enough to make a compilation video of his monster dunks today? Anyone that was upset because Woodbury didn't dunk is really going to love this kid.

Whites not in the disscusion on best dunkers at Iowa. Maybe best players but not dunks.

Thomas was a higher riser than Cook but Tylers combination of ball skills and ability to dunk with either hand individualy is something ive rarely seen before. Hes basically amadexterouse around the rim wich allows him to throw it down from just about any angle.

Tylers is the best finisher ive seen at Iowa.

I can't remember a post player at Iowa that had the ability to throw down like Cook. He can stand under the basket and go up thru the trees and slam it home. Most of the other players mentioned got their dunks in put backs and open floor. But Cook can do it in traffic.

Doug Thomas had ability, but not game. Power, but no game. Athleticism, but no game. Leave him on the floor for 35 minutes a game and watch what happens.

Whitey was awesome in so many ways. A great player who dunked A TON and was very smart, in so many ways. Powerful, no. A great quantity dunker who was great to have and much appreciated. And that's not to say he didn't have some great dunks, because he did.

Tyler is on another level, potentially, than both. A ferocious dunker who can do it in, seemingly, any situation and you might want to stay out of his way once he gets better. He's gotten blocked, I think, a few times. That won't happen forever. His combo of athleticism and power is something we don't see at Iowa often, if ever. And, he can play 30 minutes a game.

I would say Wright. After all his nickname was Sir Jamalot. Cook is good, but Gerry Wright was dangerous around the basket in a time when they had to take your head off and kick it across the floor for a foul to be called.

Best ever as a Hawk. Already. No comparison.

Well, you can compare if you want, but eat his dust.
Yea, you'd have to throw Doug Thomas, and "Sir Jamalot" Gerry Wright in there as well! I've never seen anyone better at timing lob dunks as well as White.
Cook is fun to watch though. He has great footwork around the basket as well, and he's only going to get better!

White may be the reigning champion at finishing with a dunk in transition at Iowa. Cook doesn't need a running start to finish with ease.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Marble Sr. He had some spectacular baseline dunks that I saw in person.......I had never seen that much athleticism and vertical leap in one person before..........

Again, as was discussed when White was still around... Thunder Doug had some spectacular dunks, but didn't have the frequency of White (and now Cook). White got a lot his last two years. Cook is getting this many as a freshman. Buckle up, folks.

May could dunk too but he wasn't thunderism just very Hugh vertical u remember acouple great dunks on guys.

Tyler smith his freshman year(only year at Iowa) wasn't he sec player of the year his junior year but he reminds me of cook.

Sorry, at this point Thunder Doug is a better monster dunker. Not taking anything away from Cook, I love him!

I remember hearing one time that DT could grab a $20 bill off the top of the backboard! I dont' care if it's false or not, I'm choosing to believe it to be true!

Pretty sure this is him, rings the bell at 13'. That is flipping unreal.

I'm still banking on Tyler. I will not be swayed.

Kudos to all those that were mentioned. They all hold their places in Hawkeye lore.

Yep, I agree to "buckle up". When I watched the exhibition/preseason games on BTN2GO, I remember Mac McCausland telling all of us to get used to seeing Tyler Cook jam.

Jon Crispin got so excited after Tyler did the spin and jam move against Seton Hall that he said he was hoping for a foul or timeout just to watch Cook's dunk again. He said "Can somebody foul somebody?"

In a growing year IMO it will be fun to see moments like that.

There will be the ups and downs, but I'm excited for the young Hawks. :)

He's the type of player we NEVER get at Iowa.

Never say never, look at 86-87 team.

Never under Dr Tom because he refused to recruit and got fired because of not wanting to recruit. Get the best most talented players possible, higher ceiling. Big 10 ship possible, Final Four possible, with talent. No talent, no chance. I dont care if we have John Wooden reincarnated. no talent, no glory.

Those kids were recruited over 30 years ago.
