Cook had 17 points and five rebounds in the win. He went 7-9 shooting and 3-4 from the line. Jason Tatum went 13-22, so Cook maximized all the opportunities he got to score. I can't wait to see him at Iowa.
National championship
Is Cook in the same mold as the former OSU player Sullinger?
No. He's a strange guy to peg because he's a physically gifted big man that loves to finish at the rim. He's basically ambidextrous from 10 feet in as he can drive with either hand as well as shoot/finish....and has explosive 1st step. He needs to refine his game a lot but Fran has a wonderful canvas with which to work.
I almost got back and see Gerry Wright / Wayman Tisdale / James Worthy.

Cook may challenge Aaron White's dunk record![]()

Unless one of them develops an outside game, I just don't see the two of them playing together very much. They have similar games. I think our offense works best when one if the bugs is a 3 point threat, like Uhl it Uthoff.Wagner will be fun to watch the next couple years. I can imagine having Cook to play off of will make Wagner more effective too.

I hope the kid is great but you people are pinning a lot of hopes on him.
The last true frosh who came in and, to me, made a true impact was Marble, RIP, and that was 1986. White was darn good but didn't get drafted.
Yeah, Jess Settles was BT Freshman of the year.Um, what about Ricky Davis? He averaged over 16 points a game and got drafted in the 1st round of the NBA. I'd say that's quite an impact.
Plus Jeff Horner and Dean Oliver were 4 year starters. Kenyon Murray played well as a true frosh, Joey Range was pretty good as was Guy Rucker in his 1st year. Greg Brunner and Glen Worley made significant contributions as freshmen too. Roy is my favorite all time Hawkeye but there have been many freshmen since him that made an impact.
And Brody Boyd, even though he barely played in the regular season, went off in the BTT his freshmen year averaging over 20ppg and was a huge factor in why Iowa won the BTT that year and got an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney

Boyd was a cruel joke as a B1G guard at 5'9" and about as fast as Troy Skinner. You must be high!!!
Too easy to remember the All-fraud years. DenverTurtle, you need a drug test.

I'll give you Ricky and Settles but nobody else named is worth mentioning.

I said Boyd average 20 ppg in the BTT after rarely playing during the regular season, as the stats you show support.
