I'm watching with my own eyes.. He's having a GREAT time.. If we get this kid we owe Jok a special thank you.. That's all I'm saying.. And it's nothing bad, not trying to tease here but he's having fun!

PJ has taken some shots from fans, granted a bit is warranted, but having talked to him before and seeing his interaction with other players, he is a fantastic kid and is extremely outgoing and personable.

Great to hear! Looking forward to a Tyler Cook commitment! Hope PJ is as outgoing and personable with the basket this year. JU could use the help.

I saw his highlights. Looks pretty physically mature for a high schooler. He definitely, as they say, "has a Big Ten body."

I sure hope McCaffery conveyed clearly to the players showing him around this weekend that Tyler Cook seems very devout in his religious beliefs and it would be extremely unwise to try to hook him up with some of the more....uh debauchery-like norms of college life. It'd be a good way to turn him off.

Just watched his highlight video for the first time. For a junior, his physical tools are very impressive. I don't recall a HS kid attacking the rim like that. Fearless.

At first, I thought maybe he had no offensive game and was going to be a project like Gabe but as it went on he showed he can finish with left or right and may have a nice back to basket game.

I came away pretty excited that if he commits to Iowa, he is something we really needed and should be a really good one.

It seems like Jok hosts most of the recruits. It says a lot about his personality. Hopefully we have some other outgoing, likeable guys in the pipeline to replace him when he graduates.

I remember reading one of those articles on Aaron White (towards the end of the season, as he was preparing to leave) where he said that he and a bunch of teammates would take time to pray together and were pretty devout. Seems like this probably won't be an issue.

Fun thought experiment - who is the "bad boy" of Iowa basketball? My money is on Uthoff - just doesn't seem like the bookish/"choir boy" type. He tends to be pretty sarcastic at times, it looks like.

One doesn't necessarily follow another. I agree that they're all solid kids, but it's not because they're Christian. They could worship the Kool-Aid Man for all I care, so long as they make buckets, grades, and don't get arrested.

I disagree, if you have been saved for real, you're going to live it. That doesn't mean you're perfect but you understand you have responsibilities to others.

Never said it did. Just pointing out something someone asked about.

I'm atheist so I couldn't agree more with your premis.

agree like. if he doesn't come after a weekend/game like this, then it wasn't meant to be

Hope to hear some good news on this kid soon! Hopefully tomorrow for my birthday present. I think he has an official to Arkansas still lined up, but I hope he decides to cancel after his trip to IC this weekend :)

I'm of two thoughts as to when Tyler Cook will commit to Iowa. However, regardless of timing I'm about 95% convinced he will. Which is of course the important thing.

As to when. I do think Cook and his family from what I've read are good people who wouldn't set up visits as "insurance". But truly had/have interest in these other schools. I imagine they will feel slightly obligated to carry through with their plans.

But on the other hand. Why keep the other schools "hanging" if they are convinced that Iowa is the right choice? It seems Florida and Arkansas would be better off moving on as soon as possible.

So hazarding a guess. I think the Cooks will return home, wait for the official visit with Iowa which gives them time to contact the other schools and thank them and inform them that they should move on. Then there will be a celebration in the home as he announces his choice of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Of course, I would be perfectly happy to be wrong and read sometime tomorrow that Cook has committed.

I think Tyler Cook doesn't make it to Arkansas and leaves a Hawkeye today.

Think he goes home as Dan suggests and announces on September 23, his birthday.

Bob.....do you have some pretty good info on this one or are you just relaying your gut feeling based on what you know and have seen?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I do not have any concrete info...so didn't mean to give anyone that impression...

I do believe there are people that do ...thus the reason I believe that Tyler Cook will commit...the question is when (which doesn't really matter as long as he does)...my comment as to committing today is a total guess and a lot of wishful thinking on my part.

Christians tend to be more hateful than non-religious folks in my experience.[/QUO

You paint with a broad brush.. There are millions of Christians, all of us are imperfect. To paint us all as hateful is short sighted.. I know many that give and help people no matter what their beliefs are. I do respect your right to your opinion.
