Don't let those stats fool you-I have seen him play in person and this guy is a beast and will be a big addition to Fran's rotation next year.

The problem with nationally ranked HS teams is that they play too much NBA street ball-everyone is out for "Me" so they can get noticed by college recruiters and don't play much team ball. Tyler's team is no different-Jayson Tatum (Duke signee) and others on his team are focused on being the high scorer and don't feed Cook the ball as much as they should. Cook is a team player and gets his 'mates involved but they don't like returning the favor much. While Cook's stats will not blow you out of the water he will be a very good player once he gets into a system that is more structured and team oriented.

It will be interesting to watch Tyler's transformation from being just another supporting cast member for Tatum, to being a primary scorer for the Hawks.

Thanks 4th and 9. Also didn't Cook just sit out a couple of games for a back issue?

The nice thing about Cook is we know that his size and athleticism translates. At the very least, he can be a big-bodied, active, and athletic garbage man right away as a Freshman. He's less of a crap-shoot that way.

Game 29 Patrick School 52 Chaminade 48
Cook with 17 pts 5 rbs

Game 45
Wed 6:45 EST for Third place

Game 45 High Point Christian 63 Chaminade 61

Cook with 18 pts 11 rbs

Chaminade finishes 4th place

4th and 9:

i watched them play CBC a couple weeks ago and it seemed as though they were playing pretty good team ball, although Cook wasn't playing. For sure, Tatum was a man among boys, but he did miss several longer jumpers.

What I'm anxious to see is what Cook's whole game looks like. He's obviously a prolific dunker and athlete, but how's his back to the basket game? How's his mid range game? How's his range? How does he defend?
I think he's exactly the kind of player we've been missing in a guy that's tough and physical around the hoop. Wagner looks similar. Having 2 of those guys is really exciting to me. If either one can match yo even a little with centers, we could be a dynamic team the next couple of years.

I think Cook is going to look like Wagner's big brother. Both are highly athletic players. But Coach Dillard says Ahmad is only 6'6". Tyler isn't the 6'9" some services list, but he's at least an inch and a half taller than that with a frame that carries about 25 lbs more than Wagner easily.

This ^^^ is going to be fun to watch play out for Hawk fans. Not as much straight line height as we've seen with Fran's teams but a more athletic physical front line with Kriener. Better back to basket type play too..imo and my hopes are a real tough athletic above the rim type nose for the ball on the D&O rebounds. Throw in Dom, Jones, Hutton, Moss and Pemsl who go inside and out and there is a lot to like about the possibilities and potential.

It's been awhile since we've seen a talented and skilled group of players like this. The potential is there.

I didn't mean it to be veiled...it is a fact...we are weak around the rim...Woodie is exhibit #1...

Why is it a chicken shit shot? He hasn't produced, hasn't developed much, disappears, is most often disappointing... More is expected from a highly rated high school player, 7-1, who has started every game for four years...correct? Time to step up...starting tonight.

"The Fragile Five" need to play with intensity, all game, for the rest of the year...no looking back...no regrets...do it...get it done.

Agree, if Woody could dunk we would of crushed ISU, he passed it out so many times in 2nd half where he could of dunked it, yes it isn't part of his game nor can he get off ground like that, it is just a major detriment to the half court offense.

Good to see you calling him by name. Woody is athletically challenged but he gives great effort. Every game. What more can you ask? He tries, and that's good enough for me.

He gives good effort sometime...but isn't consistent with it, IMHO...he disappears, broods, or whatever...too often.

He does help out on defense and seems to enjoy that end of the court, more than most. Reaching fouls...a constant battle... He does tend to focus on boxing out more than the others, most of the time.
