Wiegers started classes at Eastern Michigan today.
Marcel Joly is also looking at grad transfer options.
Surprised he didn't get a call from Jim.Or maybe he did and told Jim to go blow himself
Wasnt Claybergs departure prior to the bowl game? Anyway things now move toward a competition for the backup job between Mansell and Petras. I'm interested to see how that goes.
Great he's not even good at geography. Our reject QBs go to a school about 10 miles down the road from Ypsilanti.
Good luck to him. Matt Bohnet transferred there back around 2002 and ended up doing well for a couple years, so hopefully Tyler gets a chance to start there too.
Is Boyle still around? If so I would think he would be the backup to start practices.
I think the real question is going to be if boyle stays. Maybe he pulls a Joel Lanning

the dude got a diploma for free... I think it worked out ok for him in the long run.

More good teammate stuff -- staying through the bowl game just in case Stanley got dinged up during the game -- first class Tyler.
I was able to win a couple MAC championships as EMU's OC during the 2013-2014 seasons. This was on Heisman mode, so I think Weigers will do well bringing his valuable experience behind CJB and Stanley.

Yeah, but I'm sure he expected a better football career. Wasn't he a 4* out of HS? Probably expected some really good stuff in college. Hopefully his time at Iowa will make his post college life a success.

Wiegers did the right thing. He should make an excellent starting QB for Eastern Michigan. He paid his dues in Iowa City, he graduated, and now he finally gets a chance to play. I hope he has a great season.
I agree with just about everyone here. He was a good soldier, put the team needs ahead of his own, and worked hard to be his best and to get his degree. He was a good guy to have on the team, never selfish, never complaining, just a great person. I wish him nothing but the best at Eastern Michigan and beyond.
Looking foward to seeing him play next year. We will be cheering for you young man!
Rutgers. He was a biomedical engineering major. Wow, wish him luck at EMU and in life afterwards.
Have to feel sorry for the QB's that come into any program with high expectations for themselves. Unlike the other positions, there is usually only one man to play that position for a couple years and they're stuck on the bench. Best of luck to a quality young man and loyal Hawkeye!!
Good luck to Tyler. Seems like a great kid and he'll do well. Sat in the front row directly behind the Iowa QBs a couple years ago and was impressed with how into the game he was and assisting Beathard.
Wasn't as impressed with Boyle. He didn't really seem into the game or what was going on - good or bad. Don't know that he'd be missed.

There was nothing free about his diploma! The guy worked his tail off in the classroom and on the football practice field.

Would have been nice to see what he could've done but didn't work out that way. Great to hear he was a team guy to the end. Hope he has a prolific season at EMU.
I guess so, but it appears from what we saw of Stanley this year, and what little we saw of Tyler the last three, that we put the right guy on the field. Any rotating of the two early in the year would probably have held back Stanley's growth. Yes, he's got things to work on, but for the most part a pretty damn solid first year. I glad we didn't play QB merry go round for the first half the year. As for Tyler, he was a solid teammate, and will be remembered well here. Good luck to him next year, and in the future.
Absolutely right. No reason to mess around. The right decision was made and I'm happy with Stanley moving forward.
As for Boyle I'm not seeing how he will be a factor. He hasn't been so far and I doubt he will be going forward. We have about 2 competitors for the backup spot and subsequent heir to the throne when Stanley graduates.
I'd have to agree with Boyle. If Mansell is as good as some have speculated, he will be the backup next season barring something amazing. Petras can benefit from this springs extra time in the system, and redshirt this year I'd imagine. Would still like to see Boyle as a slot receiver, but I think that ship may have sailed. Besides the staff seems stoked about Cooper. It will be interesting to see what he Marchese and Harrell have next year as well as the frosh Tracy and Lockett. You know, one of these years we may just have the skill guys to rock and roll a little like 2002. Like the look of some of these guys on BOTH sides of the ball right now........
I offered him to a buddy / coworker of mine from Michigan, but told him we would need a starting WR in trade. He wouldn't bite.
It would be nice to have some guys like C.J. Jones and Mo Brown et al. Big physical sure handed guys with speed. KF has been gunshy on those types with all the trouble they've had in the past. I think DJK left a bad taste in his mouth and KF has backed off on recruiting the best guys out there given their proclivity for behavior that garners way too much negative attention. Not all engage in bad behaviour outside the program but we've had plenty.
We have guys who can do damage, just need to build chemistry and keep improving the offense everyday. It may not be big plays all over the field. Sustain drives by coming up with big catches at the right times. Tracy, Harrell, Smith, ISM, Cooper and Easley should be able to make strides toward a better passing game next year. Harrell is a speed burner. Could be big in the return game!
