Food for thought: Tyler Wiegers is having a pretty good year for Eastern Michigan, and he beat Purdue! But Eastern Michigan is 4-5 and against our only other common opponent, Northern Illinois, Wiegers had the following stat line:

9/29 Northern Illinois L 26-23 (3OT) 17 40 180 42.5 34 1 0 88.6

Woof. Of course, Nate Stanley didn't fare much better vs NIU:

9/1 Northern Illinois W 33-7 11 23 108 47.8 24 1 1 92.9

That said, look at Wiegers' stat line from Purdue:

9/8 @Purdue W 20-19 20 28 312 71.4 75 1 1 169.7

That portends well for next week!

Also interesting to note: look at Nate's 2017 and 2018 numbers, side by side:

SEASON CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT RAW QBR ADJ QBR

2018 137 244 1764 56.1 7.23 60 16 8 8 132.0 64.6 72.8

2017 196 351 2437 55.8 6.94 70 26 6 25 135.2 47.9 55.9

Nate is who he is. He is basically going to complete 55-56% of his passes. He's reduced his sack rate but he's now gone 6 straight games with an INT.

It also appears that the coaches' evaluation of the two was correct: they are basically the same QB. We shall see next week vs Purdue.

I thought some about TW yesterday but there was another QB that I thought about more.
CJB in a bowl game where he was injured. He didn't come out and he didn't help himself or the team that day. IIRC Kirk said he earned the right to stay in the game.
Say wut!!!!!
Still, I don't think that was it. When he settles on a QB that guy doesn't come out. And I was pleasantly surprised when BF put in Mansell. He face-planted. But NS wasn't just injured, his head was messing with his arm and it was so bad I don't care if Petras or Drew Cook replace him, YOU CAN'T leave him in if it is detrimental to the team. You put in someone else, if to only send a message to the other 23 starters that if you're not getting the job done you don't remain on the field. Kirk had Stanley's back after the game with supportive comments. That's cool. But his irrational need to avoid a QB controversy at all costs lead him to ride Vandy to a 4-8 season when he didn't have to. Anyone on the team can lose their starting position (if only for a game or two) mid-season except the QB. That mindset has to end.

Nothing wrong with this, Nate is a cryogenic head on the body of Rob Kardashian asking for "Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia" in the huddle.
