I think the concern for Purdue is warranted considering they just dismantled a very talented OSU team. But I'm not more concerned about Purdue than I am about PSU, as some people are suggesting.

Love your optimism, I really do. However, you have been posting on this board for 12+ years now. This officially makes you a diehard Hawkeye. As a diehard, how many mother f****** times have we had those wtf moments where we just scratch our heads and move on out of pure disappointment? Surely you can understand why some are cautiously optimistic.

I love this team. Think they can go down as a GREAT one for Iowa. If they can come out and play their game, Not many teams will beat Iowa. We present that kind of mismatch across the board. However, that wtf game is looming........

There were certainly WTF moments, but Iowa wasn't the clear favorite to win that game. We were probably the better team, but not the clear favorite.

If history is our guide, we are overdue for a game or series of games in which we lose to a clearly inferior opponent becasue we chop off our balls, play ultra conservative, and fail to score points. I'm optimistic that that won't happen, but it feels like we're overdue for that fate soon. We need to bring it every week.

They didn't dismantle them, they scored in the red zone and OSU didn't. That was the difference. OSU moved the ball all over them, they had 5 trips in the red zone that ended in 6 points - they have no power run game to punch it in. Iowa has a much better defense than OSU and is better in the red zone.

Iowa vs. PSU last year is an example. If Iowa would have batted down that final pass and hung on to win, would the better team have won? I am a huge Hawk fan and detest PSU, but the answer is no.

I think we already had that WTF game when we played Wisconsin. we gift wrapped that game to them with special team turnovers. Last weak we had 0 penalties and 1 turnover, which I still think Hockenson was grabbed so he couldn't jump.
It's simple if Iowa plays clean football nobody is going to beat them.

That being said, I don't think Lucy is gonna rear her ugly head this year. This staff seems more aggressive. I think maybe they've found the right mix of aggression w/o taking stupid risks. Kind of a controlled aggression that seems hard to predict and hard to beat.
