I’ll take Rubio’s words over The NY Times. Biden has given Ukraine, a country viewed as being corrupt by the US, 177 billion dollars for a proxy war that doesn’t end with Ukraine winning. Why is it deplorable for the US to want access to the minerals as some sort of bargaining chip in return? You just want to continue to give billions to Ukraine while even Zelensky says half of it he has no idea where it went? There is no accounting for this money and we have continued to just hand it over requiring no records of where it is going or how it is being spent.

Oh, please. I think Rubio is being a little disingenuous about the timing/chronology of events here and then cherry picking the parts to make them seem to align with the points he’s trying to make.

I suspect the more obvious/simple explanation is that this agreement unwound after Trump came out clearly favoring Russia/Putin in these “negotiations” (that don’t even include Ukraine/Zelensky) and then Z called him out. This of course pissed off Trump who then changes his position and then all the minions have to scramble to realign with wherever Trump’s position is now.

Rubio and the others are just mouthpieces trying to put a better, more “pro-Trump” spin on these events.
