I get that gambling is driving a lot of this nonsense, but we're so sports saturated now I just have no interest in it.
The USFL in the 80's served a purpose because before VCR's, DVR's, dedicated sports channels etc, you would have no football on TV between the Super Bowl in mid January and the NFL pre-season Hall of Fame game in early August and there weren't a whole bunch of other sports on TV to watch.
But now if feels like the NFL season never really ends, you can always watch game replays to get a football fix, and there's NBA, NHL, MLB, and golf on 7 days a week.
I see that they are at least playing in the "home" cities of the teams now, so I guess that's an improvement.
