Understanding why a gaming store chain can rise 50% in 1 day on no news.

Didn't this happen to GameStop like 4 years ago?

It never ended, the short side of the trade just kicked the can and the problem has gotten worse as retail investors have been buying cheaper and cheaper shares all along the way and locking them away at Computershare, Gamestop’s official registrar. Those shares cannot be lent or shorted into the market to manipulate the price.

It’s complicated times ten.

One thing is for sure though. Today’s price action has nothing whatsoever to do with retail.
