“To educate yourselves on systemic racism, recognize your part in it and work towards inclusion.”

Also cancelled classes Wednesday afternoon and Thursday after “hearing from many of our students of color and their allies, and in consultation with faculty and student leadership”.

Are they trying to promote equality and inclusion or be divisive? Saying students of color and their allies isn’t the best of word choice here.

If the university is doing it’s job, then it should not need to cancel classes. If the university is promoting diversity, open mindedness, civic discussion, and civil discourse then it should be a prime opportunity to have these discussions in a classroom setting this week. Further, the university has a liberal arts program full of social and mental well-being future students. What a great opportunity to put them to use to help promote campus safety.

Why don't those that feel oppressed identify the specific wrong doers so that current laws might be enforced?

What am I missing? I don’t understand the problem with that word choice or why it would be divisive.
