This one is bizarre.

Really a smart move by kid, he’s got more leverage now than he will ever have in his life.
This isn't the first report of a scenario like this occurring. A&M is notorious for not paying players, UF lost Rashada because they didn't pay the 13 million they promised. If collectives can just promise money and only follow through on those that perform, that's an even bigger problem.NIL is corrupt. He got a better offer.
I’m guessing UNLV kept stringing him along and he finally pulled the plug.UNLV had a bye last week. By announcing it now, he's really hosing the team. They could have had an extra week to prepare the new starter. Looks like he's now looking for the highest offer to play out his final season next fall.
Interesting times.

They need to allow for iron clad contracts to protect both sides. Enough with the 3/4 measures. This isn't the first report of a scenario like this occurring. If you were promised money for work and weren’t paid for several months, would you keep grinding for your co-workers sake?Bad look if you ask me.
He quit on his team/coaches. It's not like he's the backup or something. He's the starter. He 100% just dumped on his team.
I'll laugh if it backfires on him.

The kid left Holy Cross to get paid. He owes nothing to UNLV, his teammates unfortunately are collateral damage.
Direct quote from the kid, I have not seen any credible report suggesting they were being upheld. The reports say that he WAS paid.
NOW, he's asking for MORE.
Bad look if you ask me.

Other schools and the NFL will be all over this kid. Nothing shows commitment and team-first persona like a public airing of grievances and accusations while quitting on a team.
^^ This is the likely answer ^^NIL is corrupt. He got a better offer.

"(A) very difficult decision"? You're kidding, right?Good for that kid. I'm sure it was a very difficult decision unless he had other suitors lined up.
Completely agree, reports were Kayden Procter received ~$100k in NIL money and he left before he hit fall camp. That is the other side, those stories will be less public IMO.They need to allow for iron clad contracts to protect both sides. Enough with the 3/4 measures.

Where do you read this? The reports say that he WAS paid.

No, he's just being more honest about it. He got a big $$ offer that has strings attached, i.e. have to be healthy. These are the same types of offers Jestin Jacobs and Kegan Johnson got, but instead of faking bogus injuries or mental health issues, he's taking a different route.
Can’t say he quit on the coaches, they made promises they didn’t keep. But I agree about his teammates. They deserve better. He should have gotten the money up front. Life lesson.
I see what you mean. On the other hand, he isn't going to be a pro player (a future getting millions). If he was promised money, isn't getting it, and is going to get money somewhere else, then I don't fault him for trying to get paid.Bad look if you ask me.

How so? He's probably attending classes to maintain his eligibility. If you're talking about his athletic scholarship, absolutely. You stop playing you stop getting athletic scholly $. But the redshirt is probably his way around that. The school should have charged him for his tuition since he had not fulfilled his academic commitments.
The athletic department pays his tuition. If he "redshirts" then its fine but I would hope they treat it like high school ineligibility where the kids need to complete the season fully. I hope they force him to make all team activities to have his fall semester paid for. But that is just me thinking that commitment and responsibility are important. Even if you get a raw dealHow so? so commitment and responsibility only go one way?The athletic department pays his tuition. They will if they work for Uncle Sam during a shutdown.I don’t expect anybody to show up for their job if they are not getting paid their wages.
