Upset alert- Uni on top of N. Carolina

Holy cow. panthers knock off carolina. from the box score looks like washpun was the offensive star.

UNI is good. Very good. Nationally good. For some years now. Everybody should make the proper adjustment. Including North Carolina.

Whoops! Too late.

I was at the game. Carolina built a 16 point lead by throwing into their bigs and making one move. Uni adjusted, and no one on Carolina could make a shot. Then Uni started hitting everything.

Most excellent! Great for UNI! Another Iowa team downs UNC for the 2nd year in a row. Learn anything from your tanning machine Roy?

Probably good we do not play UNI. We will have some good games this holiday weekend. The Orlando Classic could be huge...if we win Thursday.

Iowa is 3-1 all time against North Carolina (with I think two victories at the Dean Dome there). This article before their win last year noted they were 2-1 then.

Lucas: Heels, Hawks Have History

The article also notes that Drake was one on a short list of schools that had an all time winning record against UNC as well. I wonder with this win by UNI, what their all time record against UNC is now as well. Hmm... Carolina fans are not liking this state I think now! :)

Pish posh. They took Barnes and Paige, and almost got Woodbury. Roy got even more. They can take a few L's

Good job little brother. That is a very good program up there. Pretty easy to see another conference title and NCAA trip for UNI.

Yes, Roy Williams typically schedules games in the home states of his senior players
I'm not so surprised that UNI won, and don't say it's. on Paige not playing

Not so surprised, and not just because Paige couldn't play. There have been a number of those type upsets so far this season. And playing in that smaller gym....

Watching the PTL games with UNI back teaches the casual observer a lesson. Those guys might be two and three star ranked players but they give higher ranked Iowa guys a good battle. Give 'em a good coach and some experience and these days there are many kids who can play basketball.

This is why, and sorry UNI, I don't want Iowa playing them at their place. The rivalry setting? There's just too much at stake and not enough reward. I mean that as a compliment. Better that UNI go kick someone else's rear until the pundits realize Iowa has three pretty good basketball programs.

UNI has a hell of a non con schedule this year. They play a lot of top 100 mid majors, and besides Carolina, also Iowa State, and a tournament where they could play Oklahoma. They are a good program. Yesterday probably ruined any chance of getting another power 5 to come to their house any time soon.

I went to several PTL games this summer. Waspun has serious skills. This has nothing to do with who is better than who or we shoulda got him to come to Iowa or anything like that. I'm very happy with our players and all they bring and sincerely want Fran to go get the players he wants, whether the are 5 stars or 0 stars. All this is, is an observation that the kid can play and be impressive against anyone that I have seen him play against.

Don't worry Fran said he will never go back after the screw job he got there and the CF nut job cop running on to the court pull him off the court.

It's not like Fran has a history of making a spectacle of himself.

Oh that's right he does.

So, I assume you would rather have a coach like Lickliter who would just stay seated and put his head in his hands? We were getting jobbed in that game from the opening tipoff and I, for one, am glad Coach McCaffery wasn't willing to just bend over and take it.

Spectacle is not what Fran did; he vigorously protested the kind of corrupt officiating that plagues college basketball. I'd much rather have a guy that's fighting for what is right than a pantywaist that doesn't. Would you rather be led in battle by William the Conqueror or Emily Post?

Have Iowan's at UNC or Kansas under Roy Williams ever beaten Iowa or UNI? I know they've gotten ISU being in conference.

Since the Hansborough teams I have not been impressed with anything Roy has put out there in terms of teams. UNC is a long ways off from the elite teams they once had.
