1. It wasn’t in the youth section. “Earlier this year, a parent raised concerns about the graphic novel “Gender Queer: A Memoir,” located in the adult graphic novel section.

That book has been the center of many controversies in middle school and high school libraries this year. If it is in with adult graphic novels I have no problem.

I stand corrected if true. I still do not believe your beliefs have the right to remove a book. What it in the kids or adult section?
If it’s in with adult sections I have no problem with it. It’s a little creepy for an adult to read a book like that but that’s not my business.

You don't think any middle or high schools students don't know they are already gay?

maybe there is another book called Gender Queer?

I stand corrected if that is in there.

I still stand by with my belief the library has every right to include that in their adult section. That’s pretty tame compared to some things I’ve read in novels by Stephen King, Bret Easton Ellis, etc. Hell, even Holden Caulfield picked up a hooker.

I’m not sure exactly where the line is, but images of 10 year old boys blowing each other is way over it. Borderline kiddie porn.
In the adult section? You need to realize that others have different opinions than you. You should have no right to tell others what books they should read. I should start a protest to remove any book that contains religious content because it is a public school or library?

Sorry, I was talking about middle school and high school libraries. We are conflating two situations here. I don’t have an issue with adults reading creepy books if that is what they are into. Obviously real images vs illustrations would be a problem.

I would assume they are checking out the book to understand a child that may identify different.

Its not that easy.

Society has a responsibility to not make nonsense or in this case, false story lines accepted as mainstream truths.

What if a serial killer writes a book in prision about how great it feels to kill other people? Should we allow this in our public library?

Why have any rules at all if all you have to do is pretend stuff doesn't exist.
Pretty shitty to compare serial killers to gay people.

Not sure what else you would call it. This is a book for children in the childrens section.
Isn't every book targeted for kids? Let's start removing all Jesus books for children too. How would you feel about that?

Note: I am not actually for removing any books. I am an adult and realize checking out any book is a choice. I believe in freedom unlike the Right.

The amount of gaslighting on this topic from the left is always amazing. People don't want that kind of material readily available in a public library. The public responded to an arrogant librarian and reminded him that yes he does in fact answer to the community. He is not the arbiter of morality.

Now run along lefty scum and go burn some mark Twain books. He used a racial slur

Ignoring all the dumb posts in this thread for a second, you would be surprised what libraries are required to offer and/or put up with. CSB time.

My sister in law (no pic) works at a public library. A couple years ago they had a guy coming in almost daily to look at porn on the computers. As long as he wasn’t in view of the youth department and had headphones, they HAVE to let him. He would come in, check out a laptop and take it to a corner of the library.

Apparently more than once he tried to take it into the bathroom 😂. That was obviously over the line.
Ask her if she will say, “Have a nice day Northern / Big Hawk”, the next time he comes in to scan porn, and let us know if she gets a response.

Public libraries have all kinds of stuff in them. Your wife probably checks out smutty romance novels all the time in dreams of what could be.

Amanda Ensing, one of the organizers of the Jamestown Conservatives group, emerged from the library Tuesday wearing an “I voted” sticker. “They are trying to groom our children to believe that it’s OK to have these sinful desires,” Ensing said of library officials. “It’s not a political issue, it’s a Biblical issue.”

This isn't your personal erotica site sir. Keep your cuckold life to yourself.

Public libraries have all kinds of materials in them? Thanks mansplainer. You got any other nuggets of well known wisdom to share?

The librarian whether he and you like it or not is answerable to the public. If they don't want these kinds of books readily available in a public library they have the power to vote to defund the library in this case. I guess the librarian forgot the money comes from somewhere
