Urb getting tough

Lets get real. Carlos Hyde hit a girl on video and stayed on the team. Dunn was an over rated 5 star and the minute he screwed up he is the perfect guy to make an example of. You think if Barrett did this he would be dismissed? Urb isn't getting tough, he's just opening up another slot on the roster.

It's nice to see Urb is bringing in such outstanding young men in the first place ...

The same coach who brought in Cardale Jones ... you know, the QB who thought classes were for students. And I love how he mastered the English language ... Outstanding men indeed ...

Cardale Jones - October 2012
"Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL classes are POINTLESS."

Oh, and there's this from a 2014 article:

"Meyer and disciplinary issues have always seemed to go hand in hand, ever since he oversaw a Florida program that endured 31 player arrests from 2005-2010. In less than three full years at Ohio State, no fewer than 10 Buckeyes have been arrested since Meyer took over the program in 2012."

And this nice read about Meyer's final years at Florida:
"Now those issues have surfaced for all to see. Left in the wake of Meyer’s resignation were problems that can destroy a coaching career: drug use among players, a philosophy of preferential treatment for certain players, a sense of entitlement among all players and roster management by scholarship manipulation.

The coach who holds himself above the seedy underbelly of the game, who as an ESPN television analyst in 2011 publicly berated the ills of college football, left a program mired in the very things he has criticized.

“The program,” former Florida safety Bryan Thomas said, “was out of control.”

Carlos Hyde absolutely did NOT hit that girl. She slapped him and then he faked like he was going to hit her. He never touched her. I do hate Urban though.

Do you have a link to the video?
3:17 is the incident. I might have been mistaken about him not touching her at all, as he may have touched her with his left arm on what looked like a slight push. Video is too blurry to see that. Either way, it definitely wasn't a punch and it didn't like he was looking to do damage.

It's hard to tell but to me it looks like he gives her a left jab. Maybe it was a push. I don't know.

It is hard to see. The consensus is that he didn't hit her though. I definitely don't think he did it maliciously and if he did make contact, it was an instinctual reaction. Of course, it's never okay to hit a women but it's not as if he were a woman beater.

Please don't think I'm part of the "consensus".

The video is not hard to see.

He clearly punched her.

It's clear there is a conversation taking place which would give lots of context to what was seen on the video.

What do you call a man that hits a woman?

Your eyes must be way better than everyone else's. If Hyde really punched her on purpose, thus making him a woman beater, there's not a chance in hell she stays on her feet.

I like to pile on too but no matter how hard a staff tries to avoid these things they do happen. Kirk has endured a few. Just my perspective.

I think the rules of self defense apply to both men and women. She clearly slaps him first. He was saying something and pointing his finger at her before she slapped him. You can't tell the context from watching a video without sound so I have no way to say if her slapping him was justified.

He clearly punched her. I can't tell if that was justified without more information.
The question was did he hit her and I believe the video shows he did.

Whoever came in after Tressel was going to have to run a tight ship. Not a Meyer fan, but he has dismissed players and been pretty upfront with his discipline. He has two college age daughters...one thing a player will not get away with is assaulting a woman at Ohio State.

The video does not "clearly" show he punched her at all. You can't see the contact, you just assumed it's there.

It looks to me like a left jab,but he was kind of walking away while doing it; so the force was lessened.

Really? You know that I can't see contact? How could you possibly know that? You've already back tracked on your initial statement so stop making me want to fight about a freaking OSU player. Can't we all just hate him even if we don't agree why?

I don't care about this thread, but found it entertaining, especially the: "He didn't hit her, because if he did she would have hit the ground" defense. Love it.

You can't see that contact because the video is too grainy. I did backtrack on my statement, that much is true. I hadn't seen the video in 3 years. And fine, I'm sure we can all agree to hate OSU. And Harbaugh. Harbaugh is the worst.

This is the kind of middle-of-the-road be fair what you say kind of stuff that always gets me in trouble around here but…

I don't like urban Meyer at all, didn't honestly mind Tresell that much, and do not like D Antonio at all, but if you ask the right source especially the right iowa State fan they think Kirk Ferentz is scummy too.

Good and bad we all get our day in the judgment seat. That's why I chasten so many people about complaining about the coaches God for bid people got to look behind me all the time?!

All in all, OSU has been pretty quiet on the police blotter during Urbans watch.

Exactly, if Dunn was a starter or a highly touted freshmen Urb would have said let the process play out or something else to keep him on the team.

Couldn't tell if it was a punch or not, but she definitely initiated contact (and hit him a lot harder than whatever move he made back at her). Stupid to get in that situation, to wave a finger in her face in the first place, but there's nothing here that would warrant kicking him off the team (or for there to be legal charges pressed). Neither the guy nor the woman was affected in any significant way. This was way overblown.

There is no way I can reach all of your conclusions simply by watching that video. The assertion was made that he never hit her and that is false.
With more information, every one of your statements could be equally false.
