Yeah, farmers never by anything nice.So they can buy nice purses too
I’m actually Against most of the subsidies that farmers get. Some Years it makes sense though. In the 1990s when corn was at 1.50 the LDP payments saved some farmers. Maybe a lot of farmers. CRP is valuable for the environment.Yeah, farmers never by anything nice.
For small production of course. You won't see 640 acres of garlic in Iowa. They grow garlic overwinter in Wisconsin, Michigan, New England....
Growing Garlic
Garlic (Allium sativum) is relatively easy to grow in the home garden. It is a member of the onion family along with leeks, chives and shallots. Each garlic bulb contains a dozen or more smaller bulbs, called cloves. The cloves are enclosed by a white or purplish, dry, parchment-like skin.www.extension.iastate.edu

They are still planting it in the fall…no tractors moving around in the middle of winter. Why not?
I understand people really like garlic.

So only 24" of frost? 🤣Anyway, with all this climate change going on, perhaps Iowa farmers could find something that traditionally only grows a bit farther south?
So, by that standard, you can understand why assistance makes sense in some other circumstances?I’m actually Against most of the subsidies that farmers get. Some Years it makes sense though. It was a necessity during the Great Depression. So, by that standard, you can understand why assistance makes sense in some other circumstances?
It was a necessity during the Great Depression.
It’s abused in todays USA.
Yes.Are we talking about double-cropping or student loans or farm aid, now?
ThisNot about having a lack of respect for farmers. I lack respect for the farmer that collects a check from the government, yet bitches about somebody else collecting a check from the government.
You get paid to sell your commodities, after it telling me without subsidies you wouldn’t try and be more productive? If that’s the case, CRP pays very wellWell it sure looks like the USA farmer is being asked to feed a lot more people now…it’s almost like there is a reason every administration keeps the farm bill around.
I grew up working on a farm, I don't recall sitting on my ass all day. I recall having lunch for an hour then going back to working my ass off.I drink cofveve. But I can’t do it at the local diner or my kitchen table at 2:00 on a Wednesday while my workplace sits empty for months of the year.
