This should work. It features one of the same key figures. This one also raises the specter of PTSD, and how the US shuts out illegal vets from care.

The US military has a program for the last century to allow foreigners to sign up for the military and gain their citizenship. This article makes it seem that these people did NOT join this program, so essentially they are still illegals. In other words, these people did not follow the rules. Apparently, following the rules is not important to liberals, so they feel sorry for these people.

The links provided don't explain, but my experience with the military suggests they likely thought they were in the program but the requisite paperwork was not explained to them. Getting your military benefits can be very confusing.
Why do you hate men and women who fought for you in combat? Heck, they weren't following all the rules when they signed up. Shouldn't you be mad about the recruiters in 2006-8 who were desperate for numbers and let so many slip by?
Heard this on NPR...some of the vets have set up groups to help the ones following them. Getting them off drugs and helping them get jobs. We should do better by these people.

Every single American foreign conflict since then has been hegemonic in nature against countries that have never posed even the slightest threat to my freedom or safety.
this is correct. there has been no declared war since ww2. all the rest have been political police actions.

Democracy Now had a lady soldier on a few days ago. She served various places for 5 years, then was honorably discharged. Now they want to deport her. But there's a problem. She was born in Texas. She was delivered by a midwife and never had a birth certificate.
She provided a statement from the midwife when she enlisted and that was fine for risking her life for her country. But now that she out, she's in limbo. Where can they deport her if she was born here and lived here her entire life?
She "looks" Hispanic. So I guess we could throw a dart at a map of Hispanic nations and just dump her there. Where she would be an illegal alien.
You'd think. But when the right goes lunatic over immigration and the middle and left are too cowardly to smack them down, this is what we get.
This may be too simplistic, but I think anybody who is honorably discharged from the US military should be a citizen. I do not understand how anybody could disagree with that.
