Wife and I decided it might be best to keep the kids in the US for vacation this year due to all the nonsense out there so leaning towards the virgin islands. I am sure some of you have been so what can you tell me about it? Good diving? Good food? Will we love it? Which island should we stay on? VRBO or hotel?

TIA.

Red hook on st thomas has a great ritz.
St john has a nice westin and arnb’s.
St john has some really good restaurants.

Only went there on a couple cruises but I really enjoyed St Thomas. That’s all I got….

There are zero Hilton-branded hotels on St. Thomas. Marriott has like five properties.

Hilton is establishing a beachhead with a Hampton Inn near a cruise ship port in September.

Bold move to open a new hotel in the height of hurricane season. Let's see how that works out for them.

Your bride trying to recapture her lost innocence? ;)

Mrs. Vagabond and I have been to St. Thomas many times. We love St. Thomas. The restaurants are awesome (tons of people from mainland escaping the rat-race). Stay in high traffic areas.

We got in to a bad neighborhood one time and had to drive like idiots to escape the dudes closing in on us.

Cabs- Make sure they know where you want to go before you leave. Otherwise it is possible they’ll drive in to strange neighborhoods to ask buddies where.

Shopping is really cool, if that is your thing.

St, Thomas- Some good beaches but not amazing. St. John has the best beaches.

How are you going to score any weed without venturing into the "bad" areas?

And where exactly are the bad neighborhoods?

Went through customs in St Thomas a couple months ago after staying in Tortola. The airport sucks in St Thomas. Hope that helps

Not sure in total but this one was right off of downtown.
Yeah
Some bad areas near downtown.
If anyone wants to splurge the club level at the ritz over at red hook is amazing.
Food, drink, etc.
Time we stayed there there was a mid eastern family of 4 there that had a nanny and two security guys with them.
