USS Iowa Chaos

Drove down this morning and got there at 10:05. Took 15 minutes to get tickets and an hour and a half to tour the ship. When we left around noon, the line was blocks long. Cars trying to get into the parking lot were backed up to the freeway. Talked to a buddy who said it took 2 1/2 hours to get on the ship. The volunteers on the Iowa were blown away, never seen such a crowd.

Glad I went, very moving as a native Iowan to see this awesome battleship. Iowa crowds have been very impressive. Proud to be a Hawkeye.

Hawkeye huddle was not good last night either. Ran out of bud light. Very disorganized. Terrible sound system and no one from the halfway mark back could hear a thing. No players or coaches which to me is ridiculous 2 days before the game and with the sheer number of people there. The Iowa people organizing events here in los Angeles have failed the last 2 days. A LARGE number of people that spent money for the USA Iowa event never got on the ship or a tour, and paid for good they didn't get. I don't know how anyone could be surprised with the the Iowa turnout. It's been 25 years since a Rose Bowl and this fan base has traveled all year for this team. You have to be mentally challenged NOT to expect massive numbers and be caught unprepared. Very disappointing so far. Thankfully Huntington beach is gorgeous, the ocean is awesome, and the weather is beautiful. I'm hoping tomorrow things are much better and we knock the hell out of mccaffrey.

I paid the $40 to get on the ship, which really shortened our time to get on the ship. The line to get free tickets was long even at 10:00 AM. Almost forgot, lines for bee were long. One of the volunteers told us they were expecting a few hundred. I told them it would be thousands, which it was.

Great weather and great crowds. Overall a great day. Stayed away from the parties, tomorrow starts really early.

Dude, I waited in line for the battleship with nearly 10,000 of my friends in 60 degree weather. Anyone that had a poor experience needs to go join the church of scientology.

If you blame the university for this you need to rethink. We are not the host. These places get paid big money to host these events and the fail is on them not the University. Do you really think that the Iowa advisors did not tell them this would happen. The hosts were from California and if you know anything about culture, Californians know everything because they are, well, California.
